Taking calculus junior year was common in my particular high school - it was set up to put advanced students on a track that combined Geometry and Algebra 2 into one year (presuming you took Algebra 1 in middle school), so you could take Pre-Calculus in 10th grade, AP Calculus in 11th grade, and AP Statistics in 12th grade. Pretty strict.

Our high school just recommended taking Statistics along side pre cal or cal but it didn't seem like it was that important of a class for a music major so I didn't take it.

This whole school is really incredibly easy. All of it. Also, things are so incredibly different culturally here than at Fountain-Fort Carson… all of the sudden I'm not surrounded by beautiful and successful college-bound overachievers anymore. :_:

(Also the cracky Colorado dialect is stunningly more prevalent at a local school. Military kids had a nice blend I got used to :<)

When I was hanging with my new friend David at lunch his friends all gave me expectant glances when I said I came from FFCHS, and when my social studies teacher said where I was from I got a huge greeting response from my class. When people ask me why I have three study halls (and this has happened frequently) I simply tell them that I had two JROTC classes and they don't have Photography here. They give me a knowing nod, like "there's no way we'd have photography here". And I was surprised about the yoga classes they were introducing to FFC my junior year. <_<

The Statistics was more an afterthought than anything...it was a recent thing for my school to allow AP Calculus in 11th grade. But, because it was higher-level private school, they required a full four years of math - and once they changed the curriculum to allow Calculus in 11th grade they didn't have a class available for 12th graders to take. So they had to create a new AP class, thus, Statistics!

I was a year too late for this so I just stuck with AP Calculus senior year, luckily. I heard Statistics was terrible.

Well, for my major there's a class called "statistics for engineering major" - there are a bunch of other statistics classes like these for different majors.

I struggled with Algebra 1 during freshman year, and that was because I had the most racist, most mean teacher ever. He was so evil that he rejected my homework because he called me dumb for getting a few problems wrong. I hated him. I'm so glad he got fired the next year. But unfortunately I had to take the class over during sophomore year.

Then I took Geometry junior year, and Algebra 2 senior year. If it wasn't for my evil algebra teacher, I would have taken pre-cal and would have finished my math requirements in college a loooong time ago, because pre-cal is transferable and gives college credit.

My school does the different stats courses too. I wish I could have more exposure to the different ones to see... exactly what the difference is. My roommate was doing the "Stats for Psychology" course this term and it covered maybe 50% of what the stats course I took in the Math faculty covered. It'd be interesting to see how much the Engineers did or what the Legal Studies version of stats was in comparison or something.

Oh jee. Are we talking about math? Do I have to?

I took Pre Alg 1 for year 7 & 8, and figured the best thing was to go with Alg 1 for my freshman year. I totally failed that, so I tried it again sophmore year, I did a little better but still not great. Then I took a Algebra/Geometry mixed course for my junior year, did wonderful, and I had to move on to full geometry to finish up on my senior year. I failed that too (But I blame the teacher on this one, he just pretty didn't teach that much.) Then I finally finished Geomentry on my 2ND senior year.
Same story for history pretty much..

Mathematics was just a love-hate subject for me. It depended on the instructor, how the instructor taught, and my motivation. I hated mathematics when I was in Algebra 1 and Geometry because of my instructors not being too helpful, but I enjoyed Algebra 2 and got good grades because I understood the work and because I had a very helpful instructor.

I love math but I've so rarely had good teachers in it that I'm just not very good at it. :( And it sucks, because I'd love to take more heavy math courses in my faculty but I just don't do well enough in them to justify it.

My thoughts when i saw my name on the birthday thing down there:
"Yeah, you better write that down!"

That's another unfortunate thing as well. You can't accelerate if the instructor doesn't perform well >_< and at my college, all of the mathematics professors have mixed reviews as well, mostly negative :/

Our maths teacher pretty much ruined the subject for everybody of us :/

Also replace math with meth in all those posts and eventually laugh and have a giggle

I literally spent most of my day doing maths. I don't mind the subject, I mean it's pretty straightforward most of the time, having to substitute, transpose etc. but it's not very fun haha. I much prefer English or Chemistry. :p

Chemistry class. The first class of the morning for me at 8am on Mondays and Wednesdays ._.

It's not as bad of a subject as many people think it is, but it's definitely difficult if you aren't good with math :P I always have problems when it comes to conversions and whatnot in Chemistry, but that's about it.

Chemistry is probably one one my favorite subjects in school so far for multiple reasons maybe; it's easy for me, our teacher is nice, it's interesting, I like to set things on fire etc. c:

Chemistry has always been rather interesting and I like how it ties into mathematics. Biology, though… naaaahhhhhh. :P

I was actually set to have all my courses junior year to be AP at my old school, but since I moved I don't even know if I'll get anything good – and in all honesty I'd like to stick with regular classes; I don't need AP as I'm not bound to a bachelor's or anything. ^^;
