My dog died when I wasn't home. It was traumatic, but thinking about it now it was probably good I didn't have to go through it in person and I can be ignorant of what exactly happened after.
I've lived with cats my entire life, it really wouldn't be the same without them. Of course, this means that I have seen many of them pass over the years, always sad, but that's part of life.
This is probably going to end up as a massive wall of text, but I'll put it in a spoiler. :P
Spoiler:
So, as I mentioned, my 4 cats all have distinct personalities, so here they are from youngest to oldest:
Nikolai: He's a Russian Blue. Ever since we got him as a kitten, he has been full of energy all the time. We thought he would grow out of it, but it's been about 4 years, lol. When he's being good, I call him 'the little buddy', but when he's bad, I call him 'the little bastard'. He knows how to fetch (Yes, cats can fetch), and he likes to hide around corners and wait for me or my family to go around it, so he can jump out at them. :P
Bean: He is an extremely skittish cat, every damn thing scares him for some reason. If someone rings the doorbell, he goes hiding in the couch. He's all black, but with just a tiny white spot under his throat. He's pretty damn skinny (And looooooooong, lol), probably from him being so anxious all the time.
Sasha: I mentioned her before, she's awesome. I thought when we first got her that she was all black, but in the right light, her hair is actually a dark reddish brown, it surprised me when I first saw that. She really doesn't like the other cats at all, but she's extremely friendly with people, even if she never met them before. She has this 'trick', where if I make the motion of scooping her up and say 'I pick you up, Sashy!', she immediately collapses on the ground like 'No! Not happening!'. XD
Carbon/Jack: So there's a split in his name, my parents named him Jack after a character in one of their favorite shows. I didn't like that show, so I chose to call him Carbon instead (He's all black, like carbon black). He knows both of his names, so it's cool. He likes attention sometimes, but other times he'll snap at you if you try to pet him. All my cats are indoors only, but a while back Carbon had gotten out. We ended up putting out fliers and everything. In the end, we ended up catching him with one of those humane animal traps in the middle of the night (In our backyard). He had been out there for a little over a week, had some serious flea problems and was not doing so well. There's a happy ending though, he's doing perfectly fine now, I guess he just had a little adventure out there. :P
