So, where do you think Juan is now? In Emerald, he was the Sootopolis Gym Leader in place of Wallace, however, in ORAS, unless I've completely missed him, he's absent! Speculate on where you think he is in the Pokemon world. :)

I really hope he returns, maybe even in the next instalment for Generation VI which could possibly tie in with both XY/ORAS. There could also be extra DLC missions or content that could include the likes of Juan at a later date.

    He's better than Wallace.

But if he came back, then that means Wallace is champion again, and that just won't do. It's for the better.

Still should have mentioned him or something. Dude has an awesome design.

The problem is Game Freak have this thing against downloadable content, according to Masuda.

But yeah, it's still sad that Juan is totally non-existent here, not even a mention of him. If they were able to implement Crystal elements into HG/SS's storyline, then why didn't they implement Emerald elements here?

I guess it's because Emerald slightly altered the main story compared to Ruby/Sapphire, and given this is remaking R/S and not Emerald I guess it was logical they'd leave them out.

Normally I would imagine he'd appear somewhere during the Post-Game content, like around the Battle Resort or someone you'd fight with/against in the Battle Maison, but seeing as how the game's been out for some time now and no one has mentioned this, I don't think that's the case. :c

That's a shame. He was my favourite Mexican in Pokemon. R.I.P Juan 2002-2014.

    Maybe he's in Contests?

Although I thought Juan was interesting when he appeared in Emerald, I don't see how they would have fit him into the plot of these games, at least not if they were trying to base them off of RS themselves. But a mention of him would have been nice, so that was something disappointing.

In case you guys want to know, Juan was mentioned by Wallace during a cutscene after you partake in a contest with both Lisia and Wallace.

aka. Game Freak admits he exists. Rejoice!

The cutscene was more about how Lisia is better at contests than Wallace, and then he mentions that his mentor Juan is much better. Can't remember the exact contents, but the basic summary is there.

Since he was only in emerald I doubt we will see him again if there is a emerald remake then we obviously will. I like Wallace as a contest star and Juan as a gym leader but I dont want Wallace as the champion! So they should have implemented him in the remake for fun but oh well and I'm almost 100% they won't put him in the game by an update or anything.

Juan seems like a wanderer to me, which could be a fairly reasonable explanation for his absence in ORAS, which are, at their core, Ruby and Sapphire remakes. There's very, very little of what was in Emerald present in ORAS (no Scott, no Battle Frontier, among other relevant things) and it wouldn't surprise me if Juan isn't in the game's code whatsoever.

    I agree.

I don't want to see Wallace as the champion instead of Steven, but if Juan ever appears in an Emerald remake, it will most likely follow the lead of Emerald and make Wallace champion.

Interestingly the end of the Delta Episode hinted at Wallace taking the place of Steven as acting Champion. I think that Emerald is the version of RS where the events take place slightly later instead of earlier. Perhaps a Delta Emerald would be treated similarly if ever done. Anyways my point is Juan being mentioned and Wallace's hint at being made Champion at least reference the events as we know them in Emerald...only that only one team acted and they did so earlier, and in a world where Megas exist.

Scott was also mentioned in the Battle Maison ^_^. As was the Pike Queen. Which makes me wonder...a girl there owned a Seviper (the thug or whatever their class is called). The girl is on the second floor of the room where the battle happen (on the southeast part of the room). She may be Lucy herself...

I kind of wondered this as well, but I don't think that Wallace was becoming the Champion in the cutscene. ORAS kind of made a big deal in acknowledging that you were the Champion after beating the game - so wouldn't Wallace have to beat you, instead of Steven?

I kind of like to imagine Juan travelling around Sinnoh and participating in the Super Contests there. If he was that great at contests, then I guess it's assumed that he would be more famous in Hoenn? Dunno.

As said above it was logical he would be removed due to this being a remake of Ruby and Sapphire rather than Emerald. I don't particularly like Wallace (not even as a Gym Leader), and the whole Mega Evolution thingy with stones and so on fits Steven better, since he's obsessed with stones LOL, so I don't want Wallace as the Champion.
