I'm a bit of a language fanatic so I was curious to see what you guys can share about the topic!

Which language(s) do you speak? Do you like learning new ones? Or do you think it's enough to e.g. know English?

I personally really enjoy learning about new languages and their very own rules and logic. I'm also very interested in more theoretical approaches like general linguistics. Sociolinguistics is an extremely fascinating topic, too!
My mother tongue is German but I'd say I'm rather fluent in English as well haha I'm currently studying Italian and Finnish at university. Did some Spanish and Latin at school but don't remember too much of that... whoops

fun! new languages! i can speak bits and peices of 7 languages!

latin, german, italian, spanish, sweedish, french and russian

I can speak Dutch and English fairly well, I'd say, and I'm able to speak German. French is something I am able to understand, but my vocabulary is limited because I haven't used that in a while. I would love to learn Japanese and Russian.

I haven't had the chance to learn a new language in recent years, but I would love to be able to do so! It was one of the things I was definitely good at, and languages in general, even if I'm not actively learning them, tend to fascinate me.

Sadly, English is the only language I'm fluent in. I took French for a few years back in school, but as it's been so long since I took it, and I didn't have any means of practicing it further, my knowledge of it has dwindled to being able to understand only some phrases. Same thing with the German I took, but I remember even less of that since I didn't take it for as long. <_< Oh well.

I wish I did know more because I feel so limited with knowing just the one language, but whatever. Someday, perhaps.

I can speak English fluently. And I can speak enough Spanish to make myself look like an idiot.

I really only speak English fluently as well. I took Spanish for 3 years in high school but I haven't practiced or used it since then really and have forgotten most of it. I can understand it if spoken to me but I can't speak it back well. I kind of want to take French though this year so maybe!

my mother tongue is french and i'm also fluent in english and spanish. i studied german in college but i only remember the basics.

I took French for four years, but my school didn't offer the next level this year so I couldn't take it. I'm not even close to fluent heh. I do plan on taking it next year! I definitely think becoming at least bilingual is pretty important. Knowing only English is fine I guess, but being able to speak multiple languages opens so much up for you (which is why I plan to at least be bilingual or close to).

Aside from my own I know English only. I'm in Norway right now and they mostly can speak English here as well, so no need for me to learn new languages.

I speak English. Took Spanish for a few years in High School but wasn't very interested in it therefore I didn't come out if it knowing much. I was obsessed with learning Japanese for awhile, not sure what happened with that, can't remember any of it.

My grandfather is from Italy, so he spoke Italian and learned English when he came here, but he passed away before I was born so I never learned any from him or my grandmother. I bought a bunch of books on Italian and would like to learn someday, maybe when I'm not busy with college.

I'm fluent in English and Arabic.

Took Japanese classes in school and I loved it. Definitely want to take it to the next level.

I can only speak Dutch and English. I really suck at learning languages :P
idk, you've got me beat. I can only speak English.

I would like to be fluent in another language but it can be difficult especially when you live in America and learning a language besides English is generally not publicly encouraged unless you like grew up in a bilingual family, at least in my experience. At least since I don't really plan to live outside of the US it's not terribly important for me to learn a language besides English, but.....

I'm fluent in French and English, and I'm pretty confident in my Russian. I'd love to learn Italian and Spanish at some point, but it just seems like so much work tbh. I like learning learning languages so I'll definitely give them a shot, since I don't really want to stay in England for the rest of my life.

I just finished with two years of Mandarin at school, but outside the context of class, I'm really quite terrible with it.

Pretty sure I can count to ten in like 7-8 languages though, not that that's a particularly difficult feat

I speak English and Spanish fluently. I learned English first, then learned Spanish...took me forever to perfect the language verbally, however...I'm not used to writing with accents and stuff. lol

I am trying to perfect Italian, actually! It's a fun and romantic language <3

Fluent at English and Russian, know minor French but probably not enough to hold a conversation for very long. I took three semesters of it in uni but since I'm not a textbook learner and prefer immersion it went in one ear and out the other so I forgot most of it, hahaha.

Would love to improve my Japanese and learn some German in the future too. I know enough Japanese to understand most Japanese TV shows/anime I watch but it's just.. not enough. Languages are amazing!

Heck yeah, I love foreign languages! I study Spanish and French, although I have a really big thing for Arabic. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to study Arabic so I don't think I'll ever get serious with it.

As for the languages I actually speak, I'm bilingual as I speak both English and Italian.
