What is Mind Read the Room?
A survey-based game about your experiences and thoughts about Pokemon. Scores players based on how well they predict how everyone answered. Wins by accumulating the most points after the results of all the questions on a survey.
Ran this game a few times before. May still view the first game here, if you wish to see an example. Tweaked it a hair from then, but not too much.
Changes for returning players
None, except for new questions.
How many points do you earn for your team in the Get-Together?
Gold Medal: 10 Get-Together points
All participants (including Gold Medal): 5 Get-Together points
Achievements
Mind Reader: 10 Get-Together points. Score at least 25 points in each survey. (Tiebreaker: Highest combined score.)
Awards this to only one person, unless tied on combined score.
When is the deadline for entering?
Runs two separate rounds. Closes these forms at:
- Survey 1: July 21 at 12:01 PM GMT-4
- Survey 2: July 25 at 12:01 PM GMT-4
Where do you submit answers?
Option 1: Through Google Forms. Does not require you to submit an e-mail address or sign-in.
Link to Survey 2's Google Form
Please post here once you have submitted your answers through Google Forms, also. Prevents hooligans from impersonating others.
Option 2: Via private conversation (to Devalue). Please include which team you are on.
Listed all the questions and instructions below. Please give honest answers and do not share your answers with others until revealed. Please do not look through a person's old forum posts for information on how they may have answered either.
For transparency: Answered all of these questions and submitted predictions, as the host. Earns no Get-Together points as the host, however.
How to Answer
Poses three different types of questions. Denotes each type with a label, for clarity:
- (YN) for Yes/No questions
- (MC) for Multiple Choice questions
- (SR) for Short Response questions
Yes/No (YN) Questions
Submits two things per Yes/No question: your answer and your prediction. May choose one of the following options for your prediction on how everyone answered:
- More than 50% Yes. Earns 2 points if correct.
- More than 75% Yes. Earns 4 points if correct.
- More than 50% No. Earns 2 points if correct.
- More than 75% No. Earns 4 points if correct.
- Contested. Earns 5 points if 40% to 60% answer "Yes".
A sample submission for a generic Yes/No question:
1. Answer: Yes.
Prediction: More than 50% No.
Prediction: More than 50% No.
Earns 2 points if more than 50% of respondents said "No" to that question.
Multiple Choice (MC) Questions
Presents a question with several options. Asks for your answer first and your prediction second. Requires only one letter choice for each.
Scoring:
- Predicting the most popular answer: 4 points
- Predicting the second most popular answer: 2 points
A sample submission for a generic multiple choice question:
5. Answer: A. Pikachu
Prediction: C. Meowth
Prediction: C. Meowth
Earns 4 points if the most popular answer was Meowth. Only gets 2 points if it was second most popular.
Short Response (SR) Questions
Asks for multiple answers and predictions per question for this final section. Requests a different number of answers on a question-by-question basis, so make sure you wrote enough for that question. Submit as many predictions as the number of answers you gave. Cannot answer (or predict) the same thing multiple times, also. (Example: Do not answer "Pikachu, Pikachu, and Pikachu".)
Scoring:
- Predicting the most popular answer: 5 points
- Predicting the second most popular answer: 3 points
- Predicting the third most popular answer: 1 point
A sample submission for a generic Short Response question asking for three answers.
9. Answer: Walking Wake, Iron Leaves, and Iron Hands
Prediction: Scream Tail, Walking Wake, and Iron Hands.
Prediction: Scream Tail, Walking Wake, and Iron Hands.
