Minimalist or sentimental?

Do you prefer having an open space with minimal décor or clutter? Or do you prefer to have doodads or pictures or whatnot through your home?

    Personally, I need organization.

    organisation >>>

i need to know exactly where things are at all times or im going to spend an obscene amount of time finding them and it's only going to end up annoying/frustrating me. i think this is largely why i haven't been huge on decorating my room because i'm not really sure where to even begin. @__@ or at least, decorate it in a way that i'd personally like it.

I'm a little bit of both. I love knickknacks and sentimental pieces (I have urns, footprints, shaved fur, pictures, etc, of lost pets and some things from my late grandmother that I'd given her just around the house), but I love to have more open floor plans and keeping things clean. Everything has its place. I can't stand clutter.

Very sentimental. I try to keep my space clean but I have a shelf in my room dedicated to storing souvenirs from trips, birthday cards/gifts from friends and a lot of other valuable items from childhood. I also like decorating my room so it feels more comfortable and warm and for me that involves decorations like posters. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love soft toys/plushes also so I have a lot that take up all the space on my bed and on shelves, definitely not minimalist at all. That said I also don't like having clutter on my workspace so I have a lot of storage boxes in my room/drawers/folders I throw things in to pretend my room isn't as cluttered as it is. :D

My older siblings liked to hoard things, so when I came along years later my mother taught me to be minimalistic.

Minimalist for sure. I decorate sparsely and purposedly, and I only keep some sentimental mementos but logic tells me that i will never use them nor put them up for display so they just lie in boxes somewhere.

But I'm still sentimental too. Whenever I do get a reason to look through old things, they remind me so strongly of past times and people and it hits me hard every time, almost paralyzingly so. So. both?
