Nails!

I know this is a thread probably won't gather much interest for a few reasons but I thought I'd post it anyway.

How long do you usually grow your nails? Do you paint your nails? If so how often, and what colors do you paint them? Do you go to a nail salon for professional manicures? If so how often? :)

I used to grow my nails somewhat long, but since I now have culinary classes I'm forced to keep my nails short. :( and they prefer that I don't wear nail polish at all (although I forget why that is). I usually paint my nails black, pink, silver, red, dark blue, magenta and other colors. I like pretty much all colors! x) Professional manicures are amazing and I love getting them done at my local nail salon every few weeks but lately I kinda can't =/

I'm a bad nail biter (been doing it since childhood) so I feel like my nails may never grow back again unless if I use that foul-tasting nail polish that makes you convinced to stop biting. I don't care about nail polish or those beautifying products since I find it a fad.

I used to bite my nails but finally broke that habit years ago. I guess my nails are just average nail size now. I'd say maybe 3/4 of a centimeter out from the tip of my fingers? I don't have them painted or anything like that though

I bit my nails occasionally but not excessive i dont let them grow out to long though but occasionally longer than most guys

My nails grow until they break. I haven been taking in cod liver oil, a daily vitamin, and ester c so they get quite long before breaking. The most I do to them is use a nail art pen in white and do the tips then paint them clear.

I like to keep them short, since people tend to appreciate that when you're making their food. Not that long nails are a bad thing, but a lot of bacteria can grow there, and I like my nails shorter.

Since I'm a keyboard player, I have to keep my nails short or else they can mess up my playing. Over the years, I've gotten so that if I don't cut them every week or so, they annoy the crap out of me if they grow even a little bit beyond "nicely cut" - even if I'm not playing.

In grades 11 and 12, I was really into nail art. I grew my nails pretty long and would paint cute designs on them (my favorites were cherry blossoms, Totoros and strawberries - I have some photos on my old phone, might dig them up later). I kind of miss having my nails like that but in the past few years I've lost the time and patience it took to make my nails pretty, so I just keep them short and bare now.

And prior to grade 11 I played piano 'seriously' (as in I took lessons, entered competitions, exams, etc.) and like Mork said, it's pretty hard to play well with long nails so I kept it short then too.

i went once and got them done, but i didn't enjoy it. i'll grow them enough so the nail goes past the skin and i'll keep them like that until one breaks and then i'll trim them down. i love to paint my nails!! right now they're charcoal, a week ago they were a dark red.

Welp, the other one was closed so here's my post from that one.

Oh boy! long story Incoming!

I was visiting some family for thanksgiving years ago and my uncle, cousin and I went to a mall mostly cause we were bored. My cousin drug my uncle somewhere else and she made it rather clear that she didn't want me along so I wandered the mall alone. On my way to this display Nintendo had set up to show off a few new/upcoming games this woman, speaking in an accent I could not identify to save my life caught me out of the crowd and urged me to come check out her booth. She started really pushing me into buying this manicure set in a two pack for 40$ and insisted that I demo the product despite me insisting that I wouldn't have anyone to gift this to. She seemed incredibly desperate for a sale.

That demo killed any willingness for me to want to do anything like that in the future. I remember that she took this brick and started sanding down my thumbnail, destroying my cuticles while she was at it. After that she took these two liquids and coated my thumb with each of them, I assume one of them was polish because my thumbnail was shiny for months after this but I have no idea what the other one was. I think it was some kind of protecting fluid or something.

Afterwords she tried to push the sale again and I've never been the kind of person to just flatly say no so I started explaining to her that I was a student and 40$ was a big purchase for me. When I said this she gave me a "Special deal" She offered to sell me one for 20$ instead of two for 40$. I was mildly frustrated at this "Special deal" and that my Cuticles were still hurting, not to mention that the only person I knew who would have a chance at enjoying this was a jerk to me and ditched me about half an hour ago. Somehow I finally managed to leave the stand with the reasoning that I didn't have enough money on me *Which was a complete lie*. This in combination with how I was never really close to anyone who enjoyed it is why I never enjoyed this kind of stuff. In the end I finally got to the Nintendo booth and won a Plastic poke-ball which could hold 3DS games that I still use to this day.

TLDR: Crazy lady with weird accent got me to demo a manicure product, It was incredibly unpleasant, Never wanted to try it ever again.

I've stopped biting mine recently, though I subconsciously chew on them a bit from time to time. They're fairly short, cuz if they get long I'll want to bite them again.

I really want to paint mine at some point. Sadly I'm a southern american high school student who's a male, so that probably wouldn't be a good idea at the moment >.<. Maybe I could do some kind of nice design myself... That would be fun.

I... still bite mine, to the root. I feel like it's female to grow my nails, so I don't. Makes me dysphoric if they grow long. =/

I've always kept my nails as short as possible. Long nails just feel wrong >~>
I usually don't wear nail polish because when I do, I'll absentmindedly pick it all off. I've had fake nails (the press-on kind) once or twice and liked how cute they were, but I'd still fuss with them because of the length. Once one fake nail came off, the rest had to go too. >:p
