News: New Pokémon: Salandit

A fire/poison Lizard!

Fire/Poison, another unique typing! I really hope he gets a cool Krookodile-esque evolution

I did read the article and it appears Salandit is based on Chinese and Japanese Giant Salamanders, which are said to be critically endangered so well done Game Freak for continuing the endangered animals theme once again. Conservation-themed plot seems very certain now if you ask me.

The article also mentions the aforementioned mythology about salamanders having ties to fire, which was also a basis for Charmander's evolution line if I'm not mistaken.

I figured we would get another Pokemon at Japan Expo. I really love its design, especially in game. Not to mention I love the color of it. Really really glad we finally got a Poison/Fire type after all these years. I hope it has a nice evolution chain and keeps the typing and coloring.

This makes me wondering what if Salandit faced with Komala, which its ability Comatose supposed to make the latter immune to any other status ailments. Besides of this thought, I think Salandit have pretty good yet unusual typing (Fire and Poison).

Oh that's an intresting type. I will gladly welcome him on my team. I hope he will have cool evolution too.

The design actually looks really cool. I love the Fire/Poison typing combo and we've yet another unique ability that breaks the mould! I have a feeling that Salandit will be one of the main Pokemon used by the antagonist team.

I love it's facial expression and it's eyes. Also it's cry sounds really cool.

Could see it being on my team, maybe. I seem to be a total sucker for cool poison types.

IT IS AMAZING. I never thought they would make it happen but the ability Corrosion fucking finally happened. I like that it's an unique typing and I will be looking forward to seeing what it'll bring to the competitive table.

I wonder what would happen if you Magic Bounced a Toxic from a Salandit...

I would assume it would poison itself due to Magic Bounce's ability.

Would depend on whether or not Corrosion allows it to bypass Type immunity or all immunities. If latter, Poison Typing, Steel Typing, and Immunity may not protect against it. No more exploiting type changes to poison them~

Ooh this is one I want

Someone said some time ago that they seem to be making a lot of anti-meta pokemon and they seem to be right. How many more Pokemon with these sorts of abilities are we gonna get?

Looks like most of the S/M pokemon are gonna be pretty good in combat. Tbh I can't see them making the game any easier at this point, I'm assuming a lot of NPCs will have them.

I think I can decipher two of three moves Salandit used in the trailer. The move used on Zubat was definitely Toxic, and the Fire-type move used against Komala was Incinerate. Not sure what the attack that hit Rockruff was though.

Anyways, speaking of Zubat it's definitely going to be in the regional Dex. Come on, the bat has been in every regional Dex so it's given.

SO EXCITED!! I wanted a Poison/Fire Type so bad and its here! ^^
It looks like there's a new poison type move when Salandit when up against Rockruff

Edit: (just adding more to my comment)
Salandit personally to me looks like the Helioptile of this region, anyone else?

Omg Salandit looks cool! I love his eyes! It's typing is very unique too! And that ability \0/ A pok?mon that can poison even types that are immune to poison-type is really awesome. It may be good in competitive too >.< I think it has potential! I hope he evolves into a bigger salamander, but if he doens't it's fine as well.

Oh I get it, it has that face cloth in front of its face like the "traditional Japanese burglar" look. I guess it's safe to say this guy will learn Smokescreen.
