If I recall, DSi enhanced games are just filled with new features (camera) rather than a better performing game.

You're right though. Xenoblade is a very intensive game. If it were made for the original 3DS I guess it'll be bogged down like crazy. Many 3DS owners seem to worry that their console will be left obsolete with this new introduction, but chances are it'll not happen, unless this new 3DS turns out to be a true successor (but it isn't).

Pokémon Black and White was a DSi enhanced game and made full use of the more powerful CPU.

I'm considering to get the (New) Nintendo 3DS, because I think there might be some games which is exclusive to the new variant. However, since it's technically quite a new handheld, I'm wondering if I can share my Nintendo ID with my current 3DS XL or not, because I have bought most of the games from the eShop.

I know that Black and White had some DSi enhancements such as WPA wifi and camera additions. However, I don't see any performance improvements compared to when the games are being played on a regular DS. Perhaps there is, just very difficult to tell on such a weak system.

You can redownload the eShop games once you login with your NNID on the new system.

However, you cannot have 2 3DS systems with one ID I think. You have to do a factory reset on one first, in order to re download the software on the N3DS.

I guess so. And lately I'm thinking, because from what I heard, GBA ambassador games is a bit slow in old 3DS, I'm wondering if GBA Virtual Console (or even SNES) will be possible, now that the (New) 3DS is using a new and faster CPU? I can't wait playing several of my favorite GBA games in my (New) 3DS.

I don't have a DS but I have an Action Replay 3DS which forces DS mode on my DSi. The difference in performance when biking around certain places is quite noticeable between DS and DSi modes. Backpack navigation and HP recovery using Potions is also way faster on the DSi.

I wonder if they will have a trade-in event at Gamestop?

I would love to upgrade if they give me a discount to trade my console and transfer my purchases for me. Though, anything less than $75 would be immensely disappointing by 2015.

I really hope so, cause I can't afford for one otherwise. I really want the New XL, and would try in my current one for it.

It's so funny how this announcement comes only like 6 months after I got my first/current 3DS. I guess I need to upgrade already.....

I saw the extra shoulder buttons and c-pad and was convinced, but then saw the new faceplates and that sealed the deal! I want that Isabelle set so much! <3

Though the conflict here is that the face-plates are only exclusive to the regular-sized 3DS and not the XL and I also really like the blue XL. Damn.

Well keep in mind the new 3DS is a little bigger than the old 3DS!

As cool as it is with the better picture and etc, I own a perfectly good 3DS that hasn't even had a chance to be used as much as I'd like. Soooo there's no good reason for me to upgrade. lol

I'm honestly rather torn, but it looks like I'm waiting quite awhile anyway. I'll likely upgrade to it eventually, but I'd like to see what other exclusives there may be for it first... or if, perhaps, they release a really neat limited edition colorway for the new XL since it can't swap out the plates. Then I might throw money at my screen. Aesthetics are very important. =p

Although first and foremost on my 'savings list' are a Wii U and a proper mixer (now that I've destroyed another whisk making cookies), so another ~$200 console would be quite a ways off for me regardless, lol.

I'm considering getting this one. I already have a 3DS, and my sister wishes she had one too, so... Maybe i'll get this one and give her my old 3DS! : o
Could also work nicely for not having to rely on Bank to transfer pokemon... ^^"

I bought my 3ds XL last year so it is fairly new and finding a new of its model(fire emblem xl)is almost impossible here and really expensive abroad(Always talking about Europe countries).
This new 3ds appearance-wise is...normal.Not bad but nothing extraordinary.
Also I mosty play JRPGS so I dont need a second joystick but the second set of L R buttons....Love it.
Not buying it.

Considering JRPGs like Monster Hunter and Xenoblade, among probably many others would use it, it'd be surprising if you wouldn't benefit from it.

I think he probably means something more along the lines of Fire Emblem Awakening.

Yes Fire Emblem Awakening,Bravely Default,Shin Megami Tensei etc.Anything tactical or turn based. That's JRPG for me.All the others are subcategories.
Now Xeno is an interesting game but I can buy a Wii U to play its wii version and have acces to both the wii u and the wii library.I doubt the new 3ds will have many exclusives.

I doubt it, Xenoblade, on a good day, is $80.

And since you play what basically makes up a small fraction of a rather expansive genre, then yeah, I doubt it'll be a problem. But JRPGs in general will probably be taking advantage of it on a large scale. Heck, even for Turn Based and Strategy JRPGs (especially Strategy JRPGs) it'll have its applications. And yeah, I doubt there'll be many- if any games that require it, but it sure will be convenient.

Depends really.Shops around here have new ones for 40 euros.
How will it have many applications on them? There arent many differences between the original and this.
Maybe for HQ but thats it!

By "Applications" I'm referring to uses. As in, the second stick (and possibly the other buttons) will have various uses in the aforementioned genres.

But in terms of actual applications, you have to wonder just how much stronger the CPU is. After all, Xenoblade is far from an easy game to run. I wouldn't underestimate the capabilities (or overestimate them) until we know specifics.
