If this isn't an April Fools joke, then how can Lucas' return, official character request ballots, Yoshi's Wooly World, the long awaited Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, and 200cc Mario Kart be overall disappointing? This direct has been dropping bombs non-stop.
 
Lucas's return was a surprise, FExSMT looked weird but kinda cool? And so did the actual FE game. The Yoshi thing isn't anything new, and most of the other stuff was just dlc/indie games. I definitely wouldn't say there were any bombs dropped at all, especially compared to other directs they've done in the past. All in all it was nothing mindblowing.
 
Seems like Nintendo has really ran with the amiibo concept. I think it's a easy way for them to make a profit (the new animal crossing game uses dirt cheap to make cards). It felt like every game they released there was some amiibo functionality thrown in. I'm happy to see FExSMT pull out of development hell, also interested in next year's fire emblem game.

The Smash announcements were welcome and Wooly World looks intriguing. Feeling a bit concerned about Splatoon however, considering it's pushing online multiplayer I am concerned due to issues with Nintendo's online framework (the DeNA partnership should hopefully clear things up a little bit). I will check out Pokémon Rumble World, looks like it's quick gameplay fits better than Pokémon Shuffle. Happy to see more indie titles pushed as well.

I didn't expect much from this, but it was a interesting direct nonetheless.

things i'm excited about:

  • mewtwo and lucas in smash
  • SMASH BROS. FIGHTER BALLOT
  • the cute yoshi's woolly world amiibo
  • n64 and ds games on the virtual console
  • animal crossing happy home designer??????
  • new dlc for mario kart 8
  • 200CC?????!??!
 
Was that a joke? Because I liked that Direct a lot more than I was expecting, what with the date and all.

Fire Emblem If! Looks nice still. I'm intrigued that they're doing a branch story path. It's like Sacred Stones, but with the opportunity to expand and really do it justice. I've read that for Japan that the game has been split into to two versions though, Fire Emblem If: White Kingdom and Fire Emblem If: Black Kingdom respectively, with a penultimate third scenario that will be released as DLC later. I'm sort of wary on this. It seems that Nintendo doesn't have anything set in stone as they haven't mentioned anything about the two versions in any of the other regions, so here's to hoping that it's one game.

Fire Emblem x SMT! I have a feeling that this wasn't the first draft or concept they came up with, in regards to this crossover. I can notice the Atlus feel from the trailer, but the Fire Emblem element was a little lacking. I can see that the armours and fighting styles were definitely Fire Emblem, I can tell that Yuzuke Kozaki designed at least one thing there. I saw a young Tiki-look-a-like, so yay? I'm intrigued still. Definitely looks like a game up my alley.

Mewtwo! I'm going to be honest, I'm not a Mewtwo main. I'll still try him out when the DLC is out, but I think I'm going to be playing one of my old mains (coughlucas) a little bit more.

Fatal Frame V! :0 The reception for this Fatal Frame has been a little bit on the negative side though. I'll still be getting this since I'm a big fan of this series. Time to strap myself in and wear the big boy pants, so I don't wet myself now.

Splatoooooon. May 29, ayyyy! I'm expecting a bunch of Splatoon PC events. LET'S ALL PLAY IT.

Mario Kart! 200cc, huh? I'm a little bit eager. I was already going to be playing a decent amount of Mario Kart due to the DLC, but I guess this is a good way for me to prolong my return to MK8 a little bit longer, haha.

Lucas returning surprised me, but its awesome news. I can't wait to see what other character DLC there will be. It's so cool that we can vote on who we want to see. Still hyped for Mewtwo!

Also 200cc lmao. Should be fun though :D

Heck yeah. Love that we've been getting a lot of new Dai Gyakuten Saiban info now.

Besides that, thought the Animal Crossing Home Designer game and cards is cute. I wonder how the cards will be distributed since there are like a lot of characters in Animal Crossing haha.

Sora really has little chance in getting in due to half of his rights being owned by Disney, and Krystal has a bad reputation in Japan, since all of the post-64 Star Fox games weren't so popular.


I've nominated King K. Rool, because the DK series got snubbed for a new rep despite having a successful revival like Kid Icarus. Wolf would be my second nomination.
 
Well, I'm glad I didn't bother staying up to see it, because nothing in it was of particular interest to me. I really don't have anything to add, because in my opinion there wasn't really anything in it that was worth commenting on in particular. Better luck next time, I suppose.
 
FE14 looks cool but the dual version thing doesn't sound good, hopefully it won't be a thing in the localization.
SMTxFE er, Bill said smt with fe characters, aside from the tiki look-alike and the Marth Sigurd and Chrom fusion cosplayer, I don't recognize any FE in this.
for Smash Ballot I picked Coronamon, I'm biased okay.
Also is every Dirsct going to do something that will get my hopes up for Decode for it to never happen?
first with "bandai Namco presents" for the project treasure thing and now with the AoT, making me think that just maybe they might announce Decode...
 
Well it was sort boring mostly god only knows why they are bringing back Lucas, such a boring character.

New Fire Emblem looks awesome how to can choose your faction.

Shin megami tensei trailer was cool, not what I expected it to be, looks more persona than anything, wasn''t much FE guys in it but still looks fun.
 
Yesterday's Nintendo Direct was amazing. Seriously. Oh, and in the Smash Ballot example, they were gonna submit Cat Mario. I wonder, can we vote for new alternative costumes? Cause I really want to vote for a Female Pikachu. (Maybe it can have the Cosplay Pikachu costumes as it's alternative costumes?)
 
I didn't watch it, but thank Arceus they confirmed Lucas. There's been rumors for months and I've been hopeful, so that's good news.

As far as future characters, I need me some Neku from TWEWY. That would basically complete my life.
 
I enjoyed the Direct. Some people were upset it didn't have anything shockingly new, but the Fire Emblem iF update was nice, the wooly Yoshis (Must have), DLC Smash, DLC Kart, and some other stuff really made for a nice little "Hey guys, we haven't forgotten you". Also add in the Smash Ballot and you've got the makings of something good for the future. Nintendo could consistently release DLC characters for years with this and I can finally get Dixie<3

Puzzle & Dragons is a must buy for me.
Splatoon too.
And Wooly World. :)
