    What are some things that bother you most about gym leader battles?

    For me, it would definitely be when they heal their pokemon. I hate that so much. Like, here you are thinking OMFG I'M SO CLOSE TO KICKING ASS, and then the stupid gym leader uses a full restore (or other healing thing). It drives me nuts every single time, especially when your pokemon is almost ready to faint. What makes me even more mad is that there's always the slight chance they'll get the advantage and knock out the pokemon you are using. :| I'm sure this is something we can ALL agree on when it comes to battling gym leaders.

    So, again, what are some things you hate most about gym leader battles? I posted it in Pokemon General to apply to all of the pokemon games, not just the recents. I hope this isn't already a topic by now. :x I don't normally post here, so yeah...

    It used to always annoy me when gym leaders would heal there Pokémon! These days though I like to plan ahead for it, and I try to heal/swap/status move whenever I know a heal is coming up, because fortunately the healing is pretty predictable.

    One name came to mind instantly after seeing this thread and that is Whitney. I can't recall having such a tough time with any other Gym Leader of any of the games apart from Whitney and that Miltank. Though something that does irritate me is when they spam Confuse Ray and/or Hypnosis. ;;

    Omg, I know how you feel! I think we all know! EEEERGGGGH, that ******* moment when you are about to beat that annoying pokémon and the stupid gym leader heals the stupid pokémon! And worse, when the gym's pokémon gets a crit from only god knows where and kills my pokémon! It's just soooo sad ;-;
    A Gym Leader that annoyed me hard .... plss .... that Whitney made me rage a looooooooooot of times, with her tanky miltank and that body slam and attract!

    Extra hoop jumping to get the badge always annoys me. The first time I beat Whitney I ran out the Gym without the badge and much as I like Clair running around the Dragons Den felt like filler.

    The one that annoyed me most was Korrina. Whilst the Gym Battle itself was fine and the Gym layout was new if nothing else, I didn't like having to battle her for the Mega Ring. I had no idea when I was given the badge I just looked to move on to the next town.

    The focus on Korrina was all the more annoying as all the other Kalos Gym Leaders (Other than Wulfric) did nothing in the story other than sit in their Gyms.

    I'm a lot more familiar with gym battles now than when I first started playing Pokémon; not much regarding them bother me anymore. When it comes to gym leaders themselves, though, off top of my head, one I didn't precisely enjoy battling against is Elesa in Black 2 and White 2. If I remember right, she had Flaaffy on her team, which would paralyze my party members one after another with Thunder Wave. Afterward, her Zebstrika would proceed to enter the match and take my Pokémon down with ease by using Flame Charge, Quick Attack, and Volt Switch. It was slightly bothersome.

    I don't generally have too many problems if my Pokemon are well trained. But the thing that annoys me the most is when they have some Pokemon that spam Double Team and you hardly ever hit. Also, Pokemon that paralyze and confuse me. This also makes it a lot harder to pull a move off, and, most of the time, hurting yourself from confusion. Despite this, Tate & Liza seem to be the hardest Gym Leaders for me. I don't know if that's because it's a doubles battle or that their Pokemon are hella strong.

    Gym leader healing their mons are mostly predicable. Most bothersome are trying to making you hard to hit and possibly buff up their stats so they can hit you hard, other thing they tend to throw status problems at you which making it bit annoying as well.

    Nothing bothers me nowadays, I know most Gym Leaders are going to use a recovery item to heal their roster, so I try my best not to hit them too hard or it's either OHKO.

    Back in the day the Gym Leaders that bothered me were Whitney and Norman, with the young one spamming Attract, Rollout, Milk Drink and Stomp while Norman's Slaking are beasts! Those sloths really hit hard.

    The most annoying things a Gym Leader do to me is the usual healing when I'm about to destroy them or throwing nasty status moves at me. Also, Normal-type Gym Leaders are just absolute hell yet somehow Whitney wasn't as much of a pain in my Soul Silver playthrough. And don't forget Elesa and her Double Team-spamming Emolgas, plus that Zebstrika ain't friendly either.

    I mostly hate the Gym Leaders healing their Pokemons(Which is generally common) but I always hope to have a critical hit which don't give them chance to heal. Like everyone said Whitney Annoys me a lot! Its Miltank..........Eh so powerful usually swip my team as it is so bulky <_< With its Moomoo Milk also a point that her made her strong.

    Things that annoy me about gyms and leaders, mainly:

    1. Overly convoluted gyms. I've just finished Snowpoint in my nuzlocke run and I swear I nearly threw everything out the window. It seems the Diamond gyms are really bad for this, because not only are the puzzles unnecessarily complicated, they're just...bland. I liked X & Y's puzzle gyms because they seemed that much more creative.
    2. Gym trainers and leaders who use pokemon other than the type the gym specialize in. Taking snowpoint as an example again, there's like 3 ice pokemon in the 8 or so you'll face before the leader - most of them are water, and a couple steel, so leading with a fire type is suicide IN AN ICE GYM. And the damn gym leader throws out a fighting/psychic, too...

    Hmm, well I haven't had too much trouble with leaders recently but in the past they've been a real pain to me. Whitney is infamous for taking up so much time to beat and generally being hard to beat as well so yeah, I've had a few problems with her in the past. This isn't to with the actual battle but man, Wallace's gym puzzle always messes me up. :(

    omg don't get me started on Whitney. She's just... ugh. Then it's like she cries after you beat her, and it's like, seriously?!

    I also feel you when it comes to Wallace's Gym. I have to follow a tutorial of how to cross the panels correctly just to get through. X_x

    Another one I struggled with was Winona. Her Altaria is a bitch, I'll tell you one thing. Constantly using Roost every chance she gets like omfg seriously?! It drives me nuts all the time. What I also don't get is how they can get away with hitting you with something that's supposed to be not very effective as well. It ends up cutting half your HP and you're like "oh shit wtf". I hate that about them too. It's almost like they make them way too powerful at times for no real reason. D:

    Another one I have a hard time with is Grant. I don't know why, but if I don't level up my pokemon enough, he seems to enjoy creaming me with his second pokemon. DX

    The only thing I really hate about Gym Leader battles is when I do damage and it hits them to a sliver of red and then they heal. >:[

    Otherwise I train my Pokemon too high of a level for them to be a bother to me.

    The only thing that's truly annoyed the heck out of me is when the Gym Leader continually uses Volt Switch. Elesa started that, but it seems to be becoming the standard for Electric type gyms -_-

    And of course, at the risk of stating the obvious, Whitney's Miltank using Attract. Attract is just a huge pain in the butt in general, and thank goodness Whitney is the only Gym Leader who uses it xD

    Gah I hate it how gym leaders have potions. It's worst when their Pokemon have the sturdy ability and or spam Double Team. Overall bosses who heal themselves are one of the most annoying things in video games

    Sometimes certain Gym Leaders will tend to use the most random move over and over. It gets really aggravating, and I feel like they will repeatedly use a move solely based on your lower Defense stat. Happened to me with Clair in Heart Gold a year ago - her Gyarados kept using Bite on my Noctowl, the one move I was hoping she wouldn't use. And it actually did a decent chunk for an un-STAB 60 power move. Then her Dragonair used Slam against my Hypno. And it was not fun.
