That splash reminds me of when I was in ROTC… damn, I sure do miss wearing those ASUs every Wednesday. I remember how many of us would talk about how cool it'd be if we wore ACUs all the time like the active duty soldiers did… I would've loved to do that. :)

Mine were similar to that, change the undershirt and beret to a grey, the beret flash to gold and black and take off the cap rank insignia (I was enlisted), change the officer rank bars to epaulettes with pin-on ranks, change the "U.S." insignia to brass Torches of Knowledge, change his unit awards to a gold enamel star (which was our unit award, HUD), remove the qualification badges, change his ribbon colour scheme to JROTC, and you'd have my Class A Army Service Uniform with distinction. ^_^

ahahaha that's brilliant. Definitely gonna go edit it in now.

So what's everyone up to this fine evening / morning / whatever?

Tired ;; The whole day I've been at school until like 5, and even during classes, I was all over the place trying to pay attention to the lectures, but still trying to post on forums DX Now I'm going to spending the whole weekend studying for midterms, and doing assignments...

They let y'all wear ASU's in JROTC? What the hell man. My drill sergeants told us no one is allowed to dawn the black beret until they finish boot lol. For the record, you don't want to wear ACU's, they are complete ♥♥♥♥, can't blend in with anything. I'm praying they make multi-cam the next uniform since we already use it in Afganland.

Like I said they're not the same as actual Army ASUs, but yes. We wear them every Wednesday and at all drill meets and details like good little Obama youths

That's cool that they give y'all your own uniforms.. Lol, 'the honorable' Barack H. Obama. Besides drill and ceremony, what other things do you guys do? Do they let you guys do the fun stuff like land nav, airsoft/paintball, pt?

All cadets do one orienteering run around the school grounds each year, however the Raider team does orienteering competitively state-wide. In our summer camp program, JCLC, they do a lot of stuff similar to what's conducted in some parts of basic (but toned down a lot). We have weekly PT but its a joke, and the Raider team does the only comparable PT (running, cardio, weights, etc) and they do that Monday through Thursday morning and afternoon since they have access to the different gyms that are normally used everyday during school hours.

There's a lot more cadets that are into the drill stuff compared to the above, though. And a lot more competitions, medals, shoulder cords and stuff for it. The battalion commander my freshman year and our battalion commander/future regimental commander were both commanders of armed exhibition, with the semester-long BC my sophomore year being Raider commander (in the second semester this past year they switched the BC from a schoolyear-long position to be a calendar-year position so in the second sem of their senior year they'd jump up to three-diamond colonel as regimental commander; I'm apt to believe this is in preparation for our transformation from a battalion into something larger as last year we were 300 strong).

I knew so many people that were in ROTC while I was in high school, that it was so difficult for me to catch up what ranks were what. Wednesday was the designated day every week that students had to dress in their uniforms as well, and I knew one person that was in ROTC that didn't care about their grade in the class, so they never really dressed up.

There were so many people like that in our program, usually called bums. They don't wear their uniforms, they don't cut their hair, they don't wear any of anything correctly… only caring about a credit shows how much of a shining failure you are if you're in a JROTC program.

As for my own track record, I did what I could with little to no help at all from my father (who didn't really care enough to take a pair of clippers to my head), and I managed rather well. Yeah, I slipped up a few times, but it's natural even when putting in an honest and valiant effort into something.

That's kind of gross. I don't like dealing with unmotivated people, especially if they're there because they're forced to.
