New megas.

SO excited about the news. Mega Sceptile is everything I asked for!!!!! (Although this ability is kinda meh, but anyway!) It's so cool although now that it's a Grass/Dragon type it will receive 4x damage from Ice types but oh well! lol

The game looks so good from the pictures and I can't wait anymore!!!!!

Mega Diancie was completely unexpected. But wow what a pleasant surprise!

Also I knew those weren't going to be Kyogre and Groudon's mega forms! I'm actually very excited that it's a different sort of form altogether!

May and Brendan look amazing, the Mega Evolutions are awesome, Team Aqua and Magma look amazing... I think the only thing that really surprises me is how this game really looks like a carbon copy of X&Y as far as graphics go.

I mean I didn't expect it to look that close to X&Y but boy was I wrong. XD;

Actually I think they mentioned that their Megas are a special kind of Mega, so don't think they may be forms just yet, that still has to be cleared out.

Anyone notice that May and Brendon at picture near the top look like kids? Could it be due to the graphics, or will we get a Special like throwback to their childhood...

Well, it was referred to as "Mega Evolutions" and then referred to as Ancient Devolution.
So it's not really an evolution at all. Which makes a lot more sense since they hardly look different from normal. uvu;

I think that's just the graphics, personally! X&Y's trainer graphics look exactly the same.
Proportionate chibi sort of deal.

Mega Devolution xD. Devolution is still evolution but in the opposite way ;).

I noticed that Hoenn's pallet is darker compared to XY's.
 
I think the Team Magma look weird (the grunts and leader look okay IMO)

I hope Mega Sceptile gets really beneficial Base stat boosts, a +5-10 base speed is a must with Greninja and Noivern around. On paper it will be outclassed by a number of megas out there already.

I'd imagine how Steven fans would be fuming if Wallace was retained as Champion like he was in Emerald. The game would get some common negative reception if that was the case. I know that in most polls I saw here on PC saying if Wallace or Steven was the better Champion, they often swayed heavily in Steven's favor.

I didn't like the huge fists on Mega Swampert, which is a bit of a stab in the heart to me considering Mudkip's line was my fave of the starters in Hoenn. It may grow on me eventually but it will take a fair while because I know the uglier the design the slower it'll grow on me.

Mega Sceptile does look really awesome though, and despite that unique Grass/Dragon typing it will suffer from loads of weaknesses, especially that nasty 4x weakness to Ice meaning keep him well away from Glacia of the Elite Four.

Mega Diancie was the last thing I was expecting, but it looks really beautiful with that design. It sorta reminds me of a chandelier though, but I'm hoping she can get a really cool ability or something. And she's the first event Legendary with a Mega, as well as the first 6th Gen Pokemon to get a Mega so that's at least something noteworthy. Funnily enough that 5th Gen is now the only generation that completely lacks a Mega on any of its Pokemon.

In the next CoroCoro after this (or in one after that) I'm hoping new designs for the Gym Leaders and Elite Four can be released, and maybe Wally as well. I'd love to see if they get more badass-looking this time around.
 
Btw those who are bothered by Charizard X being owned by Steven: I think it's just a demonstration of Mega evolution much like how the professor sends out Buneary's and stuff. Also note that in the screenshot of it it's level is 100. I doubt Steven will battle us with a Lv. 100 in the middle of a route...
 
Did anyone see the new art for the starters underneath MegaSwampert? Hopefully they'll reveal the rest of the new art for the Hoenn Pokemon soon!

Oh yeah. Well hopefully it'll revive the new art thread :3. Does anyone notice that Ancient Groudon and Kyogre are larger than their RSE artwork? Think this is a reflection to their size compared to their RSE selves?
 
Mega Swampert is not what I expected. That thing looks... odd. Overly excited to tinker with Mega Sceptile though, that Grass/Dragon typing is getting me extremely hyped. I don't think anyone saw Mega Diancie coming, so that was a pleasant surprise. If any more Mega evolutions are announced, I hope they're more like Sceptile and less like Swampert, haha. I think that officially changed my pick for favorite Hoenn starter.

I was one of those who thought there weren't enough differences between original Groudon and Kyogre and the new box art to deem them Mega evolutions. The prehistoric form is a great stray away from the norm for Game Freak, imo. Definitely ready to see how those new forms play into the upgraded storyline.

From what the screenshots show, it looks like ORAS will have an amazing aesthetic design, as was expected. I especially like the picture showcasing a chat with Steven, and the one to the left of Brendan's head on the scan. CoroCoro has only added more fuel to the fire inside me awaiting E3. Can't wait to hear what's in store for the Hoenn remakes :]

Yeah, the pallet seems darker compared to XY.

It looks like the abilities pn the megas dont make sense, sceptile 4x resists electric, and swampert looks slower.



And steven has a mega charizard x???? What the......?

I expect Swampert to surprise us by being like Slaking which is faster than Vigoroth despite being so bulky (and in it's case Lazy looking).

I think Charizard X is just a demonstration of Mega Evolution, it's level is 100 so it likely won't be used in battle.
