Since several recent consoles or handhelds are now having the games that can be bought and downloaded at the same time, if you want to buy games, which type do you prefer? Physical copy, that you get from the store, or Digital one from the online shop like Nintendo eShop or PSN? Or do you like to buy the game from both ways?

Well I prefer buying it physically since it's much fun to go to the store and pick it up. Although if they don't have stock for the game that I want then that's the only time I'll download I guess.

My collection and general interest is tilting farther and farther toward PC gaming every day, and that's primarily digital. As nice as it is to go into a store and pick up a physical copy to have and to hold.. digital is just far more convenient and often times it's cheaper to boot. There's also an issue of space.. I don't have much room on my game shelf or my room in general, but I have more than enough room in my PC. Far more than enough, haha.

But, in the cases of console games, it's pretty 50/50. Don't really have a preference either way, but like I said before, space can be an issue so if I had to pick, I'd say digital.
Most Some days I just don't want to put on "real people clothes" (god forbid I get put on anything other than pajamas) and go out somewhere, and in those cases I'll more than likely download it. If I'm already out, or if it's a nice day, or if there's a cute cashier involved in this scenario then I won't mind grabbing a physical copy. =p

I like purchasing physical, because then, I'd be able to trade them in whenever I please and buy new ones. :] Digital are great, but it's not worth buying if they're not on sale or anything; once you've downloaded a game, there's no way you could possibly get any money or store credits out of them, and that's what I really dislike. Plus, when you delete them from your memory, you might not be able to get those games back on some occasion; another reason why digital copies are not my most favorite.

Agree with this... I would be overjoyed if Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo/Steam/whatever made at least digital trades possible...
It could even raise the popularity of digital games =)
Yea, it could lessen the overall sales but I still think there could be benefits from it even for companies.

Physical! I've mentioned this in another thread, but I feel this sense of accomplishment whenever I buy a new game. It's like Christmas whenever I'm able to rip the plastic off, and open the case for the first time. Also, because of my current obsession with buying Collector's Editions, I love having the physical versions rather than digital; never understood the digital versions of Collector's Editions to be honest \:

I like both, I don't really like selling my games so for me it all comes down to what is most convenient? If I'm going out I'll buy physical copies which I prefer because I love to be able to actually touch and know how much I have. But I also like digital because I can't always get a ride to a game store so if I really want a game then I have the ability to buy it.

When it comes to physical games vs digital games, I go with physical. Whenever I buy video games, most of the time I go for physical since I like the feel of something solid in my hands. You can't do that with digital games. Plus if you want to take a picture of the games you have, it is a lot easier with physical games.

I lean more towards buying the digital copies. I've got siblings around the house that will wreck nearly everything they can get their hands on so physical copies wouldn't last long for me. Also, I tend to play games more so on my PC than I do on consoles nowadays so digital copies are better for me.

Physical copies for myself. I've always found a huge satisfaction in just being able to hold the game in my hands. I guess on a collector's standpoint I enjoy being able to see what games I own and how many I have. I'm sure going digital is probably the more practical way when it comes to say, not losing the game or anything or accidentally breaking it. Call me old school, but I like looking at my collection; same thing goes with my music, actually.

I hate digital copies. I like owning a physical item and knowing I can return to it at any point. Digital, in my mind, runs the risk of being lost forever, so I don't like that at all.

I lose my iTunes/iPod libraries often and I always wish I had physical versions of the music I have. The same goes for my games.

I like physical games for the sake of collecting. I don't mind digital as long as I get it for ultra cheap, something like Steam I guess. However, I hate Nintendo's way of handling digital releases. There's no way I'd pay the same amount for a digital release, heck even 50% seems too much for me.

I like buying physical copies. It's nice to have a game I really love in my hands.

Both have their pros and cons, but in the end I'd probably have to go with physical copies. While digital copies are completely safe from scratches, don't disappear amidst all your mess and are generally easy to get and access, the fact that you can't let a friend borrow them or sell them is a huge downside, enough to make me prefer the physical copies actually. As someone who has both borrowed and let other people borrow a lot of games during my lifetime, it'd just be way too much to give up :p

I prefer Physical copies. I like it because it give a sense of ownership, like you actually have something. Digital copies are convieniant, but I like to have a box, even if it's just for show really.

Both have their pros and cons. It is impossible to lose digital games unless you forget the password of Steam/Origin/Battle.net/etc. or you deleted the email with the download link. On the other hand you miss on a great looking box art (doesn't apply to every game though), but physical copies give you that feeling that you actually own that game aswell.
