Pokémon introduced on each gen are allways referred to as Pokémon from the region in which the new games from that gen take. So, gen 4 Pokémon are "from Sinnoh", Gen 6 Pokémon are "from Kalos", etc. But is this allways an accurate depiction of things? Well, not really.
The idea for this thread came from Yungoos and Gumshoos. Their dex entries say they aren't actually Pokémon from Alola, but were merely imported from another region to deal with a Rattata outbreak. So considering we could only find them in Alola and Paldea so far, could the Yungoos line be actually a Paldean Pokémon, or maybe it came from a region we have yet to discover?
Besides dex entries, there's also another factor: in-game availability. Certain Pokémon can only be found in their respective games in the Safari Zone (or even only obtained as gifts, but can't be found otherwise), which implies that they don't actually belong to that region, especially when their availability is much higher in other regions. Tauros was only available in Kanto in the Safari Zone, but it can be found as a regular wild Pokémon in Johto and a few other regions. Houndour is a Pokémon "from Johto" but, surprise, it's nowhere to be found in Johto except for the HGSS remakes, and even there it's only in the Safari zone. Eevee was, for various gens, an extremely rare Pokémon that you could only receive as a gift or by "buying" it with casino coins, and it was only many games later that we could finally start finding Eevee living in a natural wild environment.
So which Pokémon do you consider that belong to a different region than the one they were introduced?
