FireRed hack: Pokémon Vega (and Altair/Sirius) - English Version

ok im playing the only translation available so I understand the real pokemon names. but altair and Sirius starts off pretty boring and than after the 6th gym things get pretty intense (I have not beat the game) but im excited for these games to get translated. (in case your wondering I just beat the 7th gym in altair)

Ideally, they should resemble the Vega logo's style. I'd ask the guy who did the Vega logo, but he disappeared.
Oh hey, that guy is me.

Speaking of which, I was working on something like that for the original Japanese patches...

Spoiler:

That also means I figured out how to tilemap edit and tried tidying up Vega's title screen.

So I was messing around with this hack, and was getting annoyed at the grindy nature and sort of limited selection of early game Pokes for the first 1-2 gyms (trainers and wild Pokemon are like level 3-8 with default movesets, gym leader has full moveset, 5 potions, and a team that's 20 levels higher than the wilds.)

Anyways, I found the internal ID's of each Pokemon! These go with the general codebreaker codes on FireRed and work with VBA, in case you want to shorten the grinding and make a more diverse team! (From gamefaqs.)

Mastercode:

000014D1 000A
10044EC8 0007

Wild Pokemon Modifier Mastercode:

000014D1 000A
1003dae6 0007

Level Modifier:

33007CF0 00XX (With XX being the level you want in hexadecimal, 09 --> 0A ... --> 0F --> 10)

Species Modifier:

83007CEE XXXX (Refer to list):

And the actual species involved:

I made this list around gym 2, so I didn't know the name of some of the later Pokemon, and instead tried to put down their type.

No, it'll just be a translation. Someone can make a patch for it if they want, I guess.

It sounds like you didn't see that they've already been translated. To be fair, the link's not very visible, but that's because it's... not very good. The current translation is within the Japanese game, meaning the font is ugly and there's only 5 letters per Pokemon name.

But that's for now. I'll come out and say it - An improved Altair and Sirius translation is 99% complete, with only two things blocking its release. One is the title screen logos, and the other I can't talk freely about just yet.

So if anyone can help make the logos, or at least direct me somewhere that's more likely to help, that would be great.

I remember working on the original Vega logo with Frankie, so I'd be happy to give it a go. Though the one Kiseki has posted looks pretty damn good.

Where can I find tm 43 Dragon Beat? If anyone has a pdf or spreadsheet with all the tm locations in the game can you please link it to me, thank you!

So, saw Absol's evo and decided I wanted it. So I been running around the safari for almost 2 hours for the 1% chance when an Absol finally showed up (and call it cheating but I did save state it cause hello 1% chance and I didn't want to see the dreaded it ran away message). Now I am very very OCD about my natures but I was ready to force myself to accept this Absol cause one it takes forever to find so there is no way I am nature farming it and two I didn't want to drain my pokedollars. So I look at its nature ready to see the worst nature for an Absol as is my luck and nearly fell clean out of my chair when I saw its nature.

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Vega (and Altair/Sirius) - English Version

It was freaking Adamant. I don't know if the picture uploaded cause I never posted a pic up but I could not believe my eyes. What makes this more amazing is the fact it took me nearly an hour to catch this thing cause it kept brusting out and trying to run away (like I said I saved stated when I FINALLY encountered it).

Anyone else gotten luck like this?

So how are the Altair and Sirius translations are progressing? just wondering...

I just released a new update, see the first post. This one contains some minor translation and wording fixes, including more accurate translations for two moves and one city, and changing "Team D.H." to "Team DH". But more importantly, a large number of Pokemon and some important NPCs have different names, see below:

[PokeCommunity.com] Pokémon Vega (and Altair/Sirius) - English Version

If it were up to me, I definitely wouldn't do this, especially years after the release. I'd rather not go into why this changed, so let's just say my hand was forced. That's not to say that the names are bad - I believe all of them to be superior or at least equivalent, and I'm sure you will too when you get used to them. In fact, a large amount are names that I had come up with myself after the original release, but felt that it was too late to change anything.

But that's not all. I've also finished a new version of the translation patch for the series' previous entries, Altair and Sirius. The translation already existed and was quietly linked in the first post, but it wasn't very good, mostly due to being built off the Japanese ROM. Just compare these screenshots:

Before:

Although Altair and Sirius aren't nearly Vega's quality, they're still fairly decent. And of course, the plot of Vega is a direct sequel to Altair and Sirius.

In terms of the sequels, Procyon and Deneb: I've been doing some preliminary work, but the project won't start in earnest until the full version of the Japanese versions are released. And that's up to the original developers, of course. I have no idea when that will be.

So happy Sirius and Altair got improved translations. Sirius was the first rom hack I played and it's always been special to me. The patches work perfectly so far, but as for the new Vega patch, it crashes after the opening sequence. I tried it on VBA-M, mGBA, and no$gba.

I seem to be getting a white screen with a staticy sound after applying the patch for Altair.
I just applied both patches over Clean Pokémon Emerald ROMs using ROM Patcher JS and they're working just fine.

ON: I'm pretty excited, I don't know what to write a comment about.
The fact that we finally have proper translated ports of Altair and Sirius, the update for Pokémon Vega that kinda makes me want to replay it, or the fact that you just confirmed that we'll eventually have a translated port of Procyon and Deneb, Akimbo.
Man, you and everyone who helped you along the way are all such talented persons and you all gave such a big amount of content for people to enjoy.

I honestly can't think of a better way to express my feelings to y'all than just "Thank you".

I suggest you to try out ROM Patcher JS too. I just applied Vega's latest patch over a Clean Fire Red v1.0 ROM and it's working perfectly fine on my end.

That didn't seem to work. I did try this out on MyBoy and finally got it working on my tablet. Which emulator for pc would you recommend?
