News: Rachael Lillis has passed away

Rachael Lillis, English voice of Misty and Jessie, has passed away on 10 August 2024 after her battle with cancer.

She was a major part of my childhood and I'm absolutely devastated to hear this news. All the best do her family and friends.

Even as someone who didn't watch some of the earlier anine series, Rachael's voice is still one I've heard a lot and I'm really thankful for her work. It makes me really happy to see people on social media say that she loved the characters she voiced and they had an impact on her. I'm glad she was loved and supported and that people are continuing to share kind words about her.

Sad. I didn't even realize before now that Misty and Jessie had the same voice actress, which says something I think about Rachael's range and talent. Jessie spoke with a deeper, more womanly voice that fit her as the older girl, and also sounded like the naughty thief she was, you hear the scheming in her inflections! While Misty by contrastsl sounded childlike and high-spirited, also could have more sensitivity in her voice like when she saw a pokemon hurt, or was thinking about Ash. I hear that she voiced many of the colorful pokemon critters that make our wonderful universe too. I hate hearing that she's not with us anymore, condolences to all her loved ones, rest with the angels. ❤️

Yeah, I've always had a soft spot for the original voice cast of Pokemon. I recently watched Berserk and was stunned when we met the Princess: "Oh my god, it's Misty!".

RIP Rachael Lillis. I honestly don't really know the English voice cast, but they all did a good job, and now that I know the voice for Jessie and Misty, she was the perfect voice for both characters.

Same for me, I never realized they were played by the same actress until she passed; she had fantastic range to be able to pull that off, especially with how often they spoke directly to each other.
