Restart!

I'm genuinely interested in knowing how often you guys tend to restart your computer or shut it down. When do you do it? How often do you do it? Do you do it at all?

I only restart it when the Internet doesn't want to work which is very rare so I guess I restart it very rarely. I never restart it to install updates. I'm always in the middle of something important PC! when they pop up and it takes a while for them to install so I do it when I've completely finished with the comp.
And I shut it down after I finish using it.

I very rarely restart mine. Unless an installation requires a restart or I'm having some sort of issue, my PC is always on. I'm just impatient and hate waiting for my PC to boot up so I just put it in sleep mode when I'm not using it.

I don't restart or shut down. I use "hibernate" instead, and usually only if I'm going out or getting ready to go to sleep. It helps preserve every tab I have open without closing it.

I only restart when it's required by an update or something. Otherwise, my computer is always in sleep mode when I'm not using it... unless I'm on vacation, then I shut it down.

I'm too lazy to keep turning my computer on and off, so I usually just keep it turned on at all times. I know there's a risk of hackers and viruses, but I'm not too worried about that. I'm on Linux, which doesn't get viruses very easily. The only time I shut my computer down is when I go to bed. I don't restart my computer too much, either. I restart my computer only when I'm having problems with it or when it's done with updating its system.

I always shut down my laptop whenever I know i'm not gonna be using it for hours. And when I do boot it up, if I'm not using it, I usually will put it into standby and close the lid.

As for my desktops, those stay on all the time, especially my server desktop which I never shutdown and currently has an uptime of over 100 days. But my main desktop I will only restart if it's having problems (rare) or for monthly Windows Updates. I'll also shut it down whenever I need to do hardware maintenance or just to clean any dust out of it.

I hardly shut off my computer. I might force it into standby but I won't shut it down...unless the lightning is pretty bad.

I turn off my pc when ever I won't use it for more than an hour. Its off for about 14 hours a day - mostly on days I have to work or have appointments. Other wise its turned on more than 14 hours a day

My desktop only restarts when it's necessary. However, at the end of the day I do shut it down.

I don't really shut down my laptop that often, at least when it's home. If I'm moving from class to class I'll shut it down since boot times aren't too unreasonable.

I shut down my laptop if I'm going away for a few days. Usually shut down and charge it, actually, so it's ready when I get back. And occasionally App Store demands I restart it. Other than that I just leave it in sleep mode.

Plus it tends to take ages to respond to the power button (rarely does actually, usually have to do that (threelettersthatIcan'tremember)-reset thing instead), so it's more practical to never shut it down, although once it responds to the power button it loads up pretty fast.

I only restart whenever i install something new and it asks for it and when the Internet wont work properly... I shut it always down when im done with it

I tend to leave my laptop sleeping when I don't have to shut it down.

I just shut down the computer once I'm done using it for the day. My boot time is very fast so I don't really need to worry about sleep mode.

I turn my laptop off maybe once a week - otherwise I just use hibernate. My desktop, on the other hand, gets turned off whenever it's not being used. I just like being able to grab my laptop and quickly get back to things without having to wait for it to boot up and whatnot.
