A couple of spoilers from the rehearsals:

Iceland will not perform live this year after a positive covid test. They only want to perform together, so will use a recording from the 13th of May in both the semi, and the final if they make it.

Flo Rida also took to the Eurovision stage for the first time, but seemed a tiny bit confused with his own lyrics!

Lesley's performance was very, very poor on the night. I think the staging threw her off. My partner had Maps near the top spot, even she said she didn't deserve to go through.

Still gutted about Maps though :(

3 of my top 5 are already out... 😭

Guess I'll be rooting for Albania in the next semi, and Italy in the finals.
Seeing some of the countries that passed in this semi though, i'm not particularly hopeful :(

I just watched the qualifying for the race in Monaco, next there's the season finale for the Spanish football league and then Eurovision shortly after it ends. I've got my adrenaline more than ready for today (although I appreciate that the one competition which involves singing is the one happening before bedtime).

A lot of people are upset that Denmark didn't go though, but Moldova did. I'm not one of those upset for Denmark as such, despite my top two songs this year being retro songs!

I was more upset for poor Uku (I knew he wouldn't get through, even though I voted for him!) but the one I was really surprised at was Austria not taking Moldova's spot. I wasn't in love with Vincent's song, but he easily had one of the top vocal performances of the night.

I'm so excited, it's ridiculous!!! Eurovision is always a high point of the year for me, and it's been 2 full years since the last one!

I think France will win tbh, their draw is literally perfect. Ok song, and I won't be upset if it does win, I just think there are so many better songs this year.

My number one earlier this week, Italy, might still pull it off, but I fear the jury vote for them. I don't think Iceland, or Ukraine will win for the same reason. One of these three could very well win the public vote I think.

Switzerland has gone off the boil after a pretty lacklustre semi.

Malta is riding high in the odds, but I'm not sure it's gonna win tbh.

San Marino aren't a realistic winner I don't think, unless I'm seriously underestimating the Flo Rida effect.

TIX just doesn't seem to have the support right now, even if his "love story" with Efendi has been one of funniest things this year.

Cyprus is done for, Elena is opening the show, I don't see her winning from there.

Speaking of those who won't win, I'm hoping my girl Stefania has a better time tonight, she was a bit rough in the semi, mostly due to the over-elaborate staging. She was awesome in the jury final though, so I'm hoping for the same tonight :)

Bulgaria also had a poor semi unfortunately.

For surprises in this year's final, watch out for Portugal and Finland, I think they'll both do much better than originally anticipated!

Ok, so I had a mopey post prepared before the public vote but hey, while corporate Europe is ... questionable, the actual people are alright.

The dark horses made my night.

I find it funny my top pick barely escaped last place, but hey, gotta respect how Jendrik handled that. He literally laughed away the L, lol.

Honestly, at this point it's tradition. Beforehand when it was more political, that hampered a lot of things in the competition and some of that is still trying to be shook off. That and I imagine things like Brexit etc. didn't help either, haha.

SO PUMPED THAT ITALY WON!!!! Such an unusual song, I'm reminded of when Lordi powered through the contest with their wild entry, we need more of this in Eurovision!

She would have won hands down in the 70s-80s, and I'm not at all surprised she ended so close.

Incindetally, glad to see three of my top five songs ending up there. I don't get Ukraine, though.

I quite liked France's entry as well! But also happy with Italy's victory. TBH was not really inpressed with Switzerland's entry - it was well sung, I just didn't like the song! (Not helped by my not knowing the language, but same for France's song - it was better performed and musically better imo is all).

The judging in the final was simply brutal! I think the top 3 ate so many points that there just wasn't enough to go around.

The UK wasn't the only country to do really badly, and his performance was incredibly poor on the night, as I feared after seeing the rehearsals :(

Congratulations Italia!!! So well deserved!

I was surprised to see them do so well in jury voting. When they were so high after that, I had confidence they would win :)

I'm one of the ones who has never watched Eurovision before, but El Diablo is honestly really good!!

Yay Eurovision!! I really enjoy it. Out of those I've listened to, Italy and Ireland have to be my fave. I can't really rank the others. (Can I be assigned a country please? 😍)
