roast your favorite old gen

Can we talk about the hidden cave RIGHT UNDER the cycling road in dppt. I was wondering how to get a gibble and the dex said in that areia I had to look it up. If it wasnt for the Internet I would have never knew it was there.

yeah that one's a bit weird

like secrets and hidden areas are cool and all, but who the fuck was gonna think to check under the bridge, especially when the more visible Wayward Cave entrance is already there?

Sorry sixth gen, but a zombie having a seige could quite likely win you. Especially ORAS, like at least XY is good for Nuzlocking and the like.

Gen 5: Why do so many Pokémon evolve so late? And what's with this all this dex filler?

Gen 7: Why is your beginning filled with endless cutscenes and why does your definitive version have a worse story?

Imagine having to rely on a now-defunct online service to grow Berries

This thread in 5 years: "lol imagine having to rely on a now-defunct online service to trade - and also pay for it (TWICE if you want GTS)"

But yeah, so glad you can buy berries in B2W2. I've maxxed out my Join Avenue on my glitchy B2 cart so I'll never replay that one, just keep it so I can have berries. Shame about Hidden Abilities though.

Ghetisis is a one noted villain , whose grunts are more interesting. Has one of the worst starters in tepig. One game has no familiar pokemon until postgame and the other blocks like half the map behind postgame

Hoenn has sixteen water routes and yet only three of them are in any way memorable. They really needed something to distinguish them apart. Environmental designs, different wild Pokemon, anything, really. Only the route with the big trench, the route around Sootopolis, and the Ocean Current (as annoying as it was) came anywhere near the route design of Hoenn's excellent land routes.

Let's add a ton of new physical attacking dark type and water type Pokemon before the physical special split becomes a thing. Let's also add a pokemon that's like Magikarp but can only be found in 4 water tiles on a route with about 400 water tiles. Oh, and make sure it changes daily. Have to also lock its evolution behind a berry that requires the battery clock to work or else you're going to have to rely on the cloning glitch.

While we're at it let's make the main attraction of our new game the most ball-busting and challenging area that requires hundreds, maybe thousands, of hours investing just to get a berry that randomly increases a stat by 2 in a pinch. That has to be the best reward ever, right?

Gen 4: Horribly slow in D/P and only slightly better in the rest of the gen, saving can take over a full minute if you have the nerve to touch the PC and battles move at a glacial pace with leisurely paced animations and the HP bars taking their sweet time to deplete.

Gen 5: Despite people complaining about linearity in the 3DS/Switch games, this gen started it to a large extent. Unova in B/W is literally a linear oval and even though B2/W2 appears to solve the issue, it actually doesn't because it locks an absurd amount of areas behind the post-game or nonsensical roadblocks until you pass arbitrary points in the story.

Gen 7: The complaints about excessive cutscenes are completely justified, the first island only has a few hours of gameplay, but it sure doesn't feel like it because you're getting stopped every 2 milliseconds for exposition dumps. It gets slightly better after the beginning, but it still feels closer to a guided tour with your wacky pals then an actual adventure.

Gen 2, what's up with your level curve??? I have 100 hours in Gold alone and I'll bet at least 20 were just grinding for levels (and I'm being generous)... Also why don't the Johto gym leaders use Johto Pokemon at all? That sounds like a serious oversight. Elite four is the only time in the game were you'll see some of the fully evolved new mons, and it's a mess. The champion's team is a joke with the Dragonite spam...

Ooh boy, I can't wait to get my starter here in Alola! I want- (Insert heinous amounts of dialogue and cutscenes) Oh god, that took forever, I sure hope USUM improves on this issue- (Insert heinous amounts of dialogue and cutscenes: Ultra Edition)

Gen 2: Finally, seventh badge! Oh wait. Pryce is the seventh? He was my sixth badge

I know gen 2's level curve is an old joke by now, but I just had to bring it up again

Diamond was my favorite as a kid, but replaying it as an adult... MAN is it insufferable. Slow as hell (even with speed-up cheats in my emulator), lousy variety in Pokémon, the worst TM ever in Defog (guess who had to brute-force their way through that route because they couldn't find the HM...), and you have to backtrack your path to get to all the gyms (like you have to go from Jubilife to Oreburgh, then back to Jubilife and to Eterna, then back to Oreburgh, pass through Hearthome to get to Veilstone, etc.) Why is there so much back and forth? Now I understand why they switched the order of Maylene/Crasher Wake/Fantina in Platinum...

Oh and how could we forget tweaking... ah yes, spazzing around some random tiles in Jubilife City and entering The Void™.

Let me recite the Hoenn Pokedex entires:
"This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon...This Pokemon... This Pokemon..."

*throws dex on the ground and crushes it with foot*

If anyone starts another sentence with those two words in that specific order, there's gonna be big trouble. It's so dry and stuffy...
