Search Engines other than Google

Anyone here use search engines besides Google? There's plenty of alternatives, but the only ones I can think of are Bing, Ask.com, Yahoo Search and Duck Duck Go.

I dont think i ever heard of ask.com.

but i personally use duckduckgo, its just more privacy centered and its just works for me. I have used bing just to see, but honestly it was complete garbage for the most part.

DDG is really nice, but I use StartPage personally. Searx is also pretty good, but it's not a good option for the average individual.

loving the Startpage shoutout. i should really use it more, but i ain't too much a fan of the UI. have you tried Qwant?

i also appreciate the several folks using DDG. it's my default on Firefox as well.

I started to question DDG (in terms of the corporate vs. for-the-people stance) when I saw billboards for them around town, as well as advertising. I'm not saying that it's necessarily bad, but it could be a sign that they're looking for more users. Just kinda seems that for something like no-track searches, i'd figured they would want to remain low-key

It's also nice that search engines aren't entirely monopolized either

Ecosia supposedly donates money to plant trees for every web search. I believe it's made from Bing, but I could be wrong.
Bing gives you reward points for every search.
Google for when neither of the above get me what I look for.

I use Edge as my browser now on android, and I keep Bing as default for basic searches simply for the reward points and cool daily wallpapers. It's actually better than Google for a lot of everday stuff now, but damn is it useless when you're looking for anything "technical".

For serious stuff I use startpage and I have done for a very, very, long time. Just beware that they did change ownership a year or so ago, and are now majority owned by an advertising company, make of that what you will.

I'm not a fan of DDG. Qwant was good last time I used it.

Occasionally I use Google when I actually want a spammy result.

I primarily use Bing because Microsoft literally pays me to. I don't really care what search engine I'm using as long as I get results, and I can get Amazon or Taco Bell gift cards from Bing, so why not? If Bing doesn't give me good results, I just switch to Google. If I don't want Microsoft to know what I'm searching for, I just enter that query into DDG.
