Should all Pokémon games have demos?

    Do you think all Pokémon games should have demos available? There have been a few with downloadable demos (most notably ORAS and Sun and Moon), and a full list can be seen here, but most games in the series did not have any demos available.

    Be honest: If all of the games had free demos to try, do you think it would impact your desire to purchase? Would you purchase a Pokémon game anyway if you already had an interest in it, or would you reserve your decision until after you've tried the demo?
     
    Approves of demos for any game, Pokemon or otherwise. Arguably makes sense to be part of the normal game, rather than a demo-exclusive area or story. Evidently considers the beginning of a Pokemon game to not be engaging. (Probably ought to look into that, Game Freak.) Will not fuss about the particulars, however. Helps people to see what they get before they get it (if they do).

    Affecting a purchase: ...Maybe? Might give Legends a shot. Helps more to play a game and feel the mechanics yourself than to read about them.
     
    I don't think demos would do much. Pokémon games start to pick up and get more exciting once you're at least a few hours in... something that it's hard to show in a demo.

    From what I recall, ORAS demo was designed specifically to build hype around Mega evolution, not much else.

    But I need to read xD you're asking if ALL Pokemon games should have demos. Of course! It was a great way to get a taste of the new game before it fully comes out.
     
    Pokémon mainline is far too formulaic to benefit from a demo. Unless Nintendo can sell it for, like, $60. Separate from the full game pricing, of course.

    Besides let's be real if there was a ScarVio demo, it would just have been the entire 47-minutes long opening cutscene with then a message saying "buy the full game".

    I think that there should definitely be demos put into place for the games. While Pokemon is widely-known as a franchise, that does not necessarily mean every single person knows any actual details about it. And sure, they can watch people play the game, though that does not necessarily mean that they would have the feel of the game - through a demo, they might be able to actually get a feel for the functions and decide whether they want the games or not.

    Not only that, but even if they (the player) is used to the games, they could report and help Gamefreak catch any possible bugs (if they have open comments, that is, or some way to report those problems). Overall, demos are pretty beneficial.
     
    I don't see any downside to game demos. There are people who have never played Pokemon who can get a quick feel for it through a sample. It goes for all franchises.

    I kinda wish they were the norm for games rather than demos being infrequent and sporadic.
     
    I remember hearing that demos are not a good source of development time, and if that is true then I would be against demos. However, if that is not true then I would be open to demos for every pokemon game. It does pose a different question though; because what would these demos in question have? Show off the new features? Give only 20 Pokémon for the player to find? 1 gym leader/trial? I recall the ORAS demo but I actually never played it. I don't know what a pokémon demo would have.
     
    For me yes, even if we already know the Pokémon formula, each generation brings little new things (regional forms, combat systems, semi-open or open world, etc.).
     
    I mean, we know the formula, but there's no harm in it, especially if we get a taste of what the charater selection/customization, rival(s), and starter Pokemon are like. Any of the above could be a deciding factor in whether a Pokemon game is worth it.

    Especially with Nintendo's "zero-refund" policy for people buying games digitally.
