Subscription Services

Do you guys use any subscription services?

I pay for YouTube Premium and DC Infinite. Probably going to drop that one as I haven't been reading many comics lately.

YouTube Premium is a little expensive, but it's basically Spotify with the benefit of getting YouTube ad free on any device that I use.

My family splits all the big services, so we have Netflix, Disney+ Hulu, etc etc etc.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Subscription Services

Yeah, the big one is YouTube Premium, since having no ads on YouTube specifically is really appealing to me (with how often/invasive they can be, and how I often use the service for several hours a day every day) but the real reason I subscribed to it was getting to listen to videos with my phone locked, since back when I was working I'd be relying on it for full 8 hour shifts and I'd be out of battery by the time my shifts were over, and then had to find my way home at night in a fairly unsafe city I didn't really know too well.
I also use YouTube for music instead of Spotify so it's also good for that.

The other big one is Discord Nitro, but it's just cause I'm extremely guilty of spamming custom emotes from different servers. I just find it can be hard to properly express messages through text sometimes and things like posting emotes (or gifs, in the case of the forums) helps a lot with that.
I guess my subscription for FFXIV also counts? It is something I continue to pay for and get good regular use out of it, and went from paying monthly for it to every 6 months a while ago with the intention of keeping it long-term.

I usually really don't like signing up for other subscription services unless I have really good reason to or it's an upgrade to a service I'm already using daily. I see it as just an extra thing I have to manage that I could end up forgetting about and continuing to pay more money than I intend to, or just have it cost way more money than whatever I'm actually getting out of it.

I subscribe to Marvel Unlimited for comic books, since buying comic books in bulk is prohibitively expensive. Apart from that, I don't subscribe to any of them. I do get Apple Music free from my family since they pay for a bulk plan for the whole household, but if they weren't paying for it, it'd cost me less money to buy my music album-by-album compared to paying for a subscription service.

I don't watch enough TV to justify paying for a TV streaming service. If something's out on DVD, I might buy it, but otherwise I'll likely just skip it.

I only have a few: icloud extra storage, Spotify, and Adobe. Even with the student discount, the Adobe subscription price is ridiculously expensive, and they keep raising the price. The first year it was $20 a month, then it was $30 a month, and just a few months ago it was raised to $35 a month. It's really annoying since there are other (free, or less expensive) alternatives to Adobe apps, but it's the industry standard for graphic design so you HAVE to use Adobe. :/

I kinda hate the idea of subscriptions but that hasn't stopped me from getting a few anyway. The two main ones are NSO (not the expansion pack) and PSN (the lowest tier iirc). I also occasionally temporarily pay for a month or two of FEH Pass in Fire Emblem Heroes.

I mainly subscribe to YouTube Premium, FFXIV, and Patreon for some of my favorite podcasts. Gimme them ad-free episodes~

I don't pay for most subscription services, it's just not worth it to me. Used my friend's account for Netflix until they stopped allowing account sharing, tried YouTube premium free trial but never paid for it, and am using Amazon's 6-month free trial right now too lol. I never want to pay for these things.

Now I do pay for monthly passes in some mobile games but that's it 👀 Just not subscription services like YouTube, Crunchyroll, etc!

My dad usually pays the subscription purchases for me and my family, he buys the Netflix, Disney, and other streaming platforms! Just a random fact about me is that tbh I really love getting used to ads especially in Youtube, I usually play videos when I'm still awake at night without actually watching them and the ads gave more vibes to it,,

Subbed to a YTer and a Podcast I really like. Other than Patreon, I trust subscription services as far as I can throw them.

uBlock Origin works for me on Firefox (both Desktop and Android). YT making their site technically accessible for free but practically unusable unless you pay for Premium is pretty scummy, and they pay partner channels crap unless they're in the top percentile, so I don't lose any sleep over it. (Helps I remember a time when the program didn't exist and people made stuff on YT for fun.)
