Gloom's not bad. Its branched evolutions are decent. :3

So which Gym Leaders did you guys feel were forgettable? For me, I'd have to say Olympia. I absolutely loved X/Y, yet I had no clue who she was until I looked her up just now. (And I still don't recall battling her, even though I've beaten the game. xD)

Whoa, the topics change so fast here, I missed some entirely.

I don't know a forgettable Gym Leader at the top of my head (I mean, then I haven't really forgotten it, right?) I think the ones half way through the game who are not really involved in the story (just standing and waiting for a battle) have a good chance of this.

And next up is Vileplume!

I don't know a forgettable Gym Leader at the top of my head (I mean, then I haven't really forgotten it, right?)

THIS GUY GETS IT

I think the ones half way through the game who are not really involved in the story (just standing and waiting for a battle) have a good chance of this.

Definitely! I think the early gym leaders in most game bar one or two don't pop up in the storyline again till you rematch them post game. The battles with them were also extremely easy so it's not like there was anything to really remember about them.

Also about the whole 'not involved in the storyline' idea, I think gym leaders in general only act as an obstacle to the league and play maybe minor parts outside of that. Really wish they did try and make them more important though.

The Gym Leaders that are fought early on, and those that are easy to take down. Having said that practically every Kalos leader was easy to take down, the only memorable ones from that Region are Korrina, Viola and Clemont.

Out of all the gym leaders in X/Y, I only remember Clemont and Korrina and none from the E4. Maybe it's because I haven't played the game in ages but I come across a lot of sixth gen pokemon and go 'whoa what's this?'. Guess I don't know the gen that well haha. :(

YAY LOVE VILEPLUME ETC <3

I don't even remember who Korrina is after reading your post! Clemont I think was the Electric-gym...? And I honestly can't name another paha. Thinking back to XY I can hardly name any of those either - Homika/Roxie, Marlon, Cilan/Chili/Cress, Lenora, Skyla, Drayden/Iris... nope I'm stuck .-.

Not a fan of Vileplume even though it was in one of my favorite Orange Island episodes!

Squirrel, I love the fact that you said "thinking back to X/Y" to name the Gym Leaders...then you start naming the B/W Gym Leaders. And Roxie wasn't a Unova Gym Leader. She's from Hoenn.

A lot of X/Y Gym Leaders are forgettable to me. Part of it might have been because I only played through Y once. Another part could be because they didn't really do much in the grand scheme of the story, unlike other Gym Leaders of other regions.

13.

I think you mean Roxanne is from Hoenn! Unless you were cracking a joke with Squirrel? xD

12

Oh. I guess that's what I get for typing a post that size really fast. I didn't have time to think things over.

I'll leave it up to immortalize the occasion!

13.

Don't worry about it, haha.

As for the topic, I agree with mostly everyone else that many of the X/Y Gym Leaders were forgettable, even if I indeed loved the game. Heck, I keep forgetting that Citron's dub name is Clemont, and that's because I know him a lot better for his anime counterpart.

14

Didn't even realise that Clemont went by a different name! His name in the games is already fitting enough though he could also be an Arnold or Isaac.

Also how different do you guys think gyms would be if gym leaders didn't specialise in one type? I think it could allow for a lot more strategy though I'm not sure if it'd be a good idea or not.

15.

I honestly think Cheren would make the perfect multi-type Gym Leader. Unfortunately, Game Freak thought otherwise...

16

Well, I think they have tested it out back then in Diamond and Pearl, iirc, when they specialize in giving any Pokémon the move that is related to the Gym Leader's type instead of using Pokémon related to the type at some point, and that's quite a bit odd.

Platinum did change the Gym Leader system back to its roots, tho.

17 I missed out on so many pokemon + you discarded Clefairy..... :c I should have been more active!

I like that most gym have only have one type, The gyms are designed nicely after the type and you can see a few (new) pokemon of the same type. I know it can be easy if you have one pokemon that is super effective against the other.

@ Windy: I forgot completely about the fiasco that was Flint in D/P. I think it was maibly due to the lack of fire types in Sinnoh but his team was certainly strange. As Precious said though, gyms and E4 are good for showing off the new pokemon introduched each generation which they did pretty well!

Also just a thought - what if you could go back and battle the older professors like Oak, Elm etc? You'd think they would have good teams based on all the fieldwork they do and I think a battle with Oak was even gonna be a thing in the original games. It'd be cool to battle professors other than Sycamore though. :]

Vileplume is saved! :D Next up: Paras!

I think battling professors would be a great idea! I imagine they'd be a good challenge to look forward to after defeating the Pokemon League.

12.

Sadly, I remember very little about X/Y. :( It's not the most memorable game.
