...you've got to be kidding me, Alan. Someone had too much time on their hands. XD
Amateurs :P When I was 13, I faked owning a card shop in order to be able to buy entire boxes of Pokemon cards wholesale from Wizards of the Coast. I turned the front room of my house into a hobby shop because they required photographs, strung Hot Wheels and mint Star Wars figures from the walls, hiked in cases and filled them with holographic Pokemon cards in top loaders, used my Game Boy games to form a "used games" section, and filed for a vendor's license with the local government. Legally, I was a business owner during that time. It was awesome and I got whole boxes of cards for a little over $30 until I quit playing the TCG XD
Damn, when I was 13 I was busy stalking the fandom on the internet and playing Neopets. xP
I have a year to beat that. Oh wait. I can't do that. xD
That's actually quite an ingenious ploy. XD
/writes that one down
What I want to know is how you got a vendor's license at the age of 13. They must just give those away.
Holy...you weren't even born when the Pokemon TCG came out, were you? I think I'll take this chance to lord my seniority over you by saying that nothing will ever duplicate the smell of a freshly-opened back of Base Set cards. It was chemically-treated cardstock nirvana.
I step out to play Fallout 2 for a couple of hours, and I come back to see yet another relic of the old guard unearth himself. I really need to be around when these things happen.
Well maybe not when they came out... Born in 1998... But ohh yeah...I know that smell. I have tons and tons of cards in the basement. I used to live around them. I think I counted once and had like.. 1,000, a lot for a 1st grader (when I was actively collecting them) I remember collecting cards and when I got a good one I'd do a weird dance and show it in my dads face and be like "LOOK DADDY IT SU GOOD!"
I was doing all of that AND scamming Wizards of the Coast. Epic nerdy multitasking ftw![]()
Did you play the TCG or just like the pretty pictures of the pokemans? One thing I can guarantee that you didn't experience was the ecstasy of pulling a Base Charizard from a pack circa 1998. Striking oil wouldn't have felt as great. You were officially among the upper-crust of collectors (but also ran the risk of being shanked for your card at any moment <_<)
