That's the point of it, people don't usually realize if they have an actual antique item or not.
Also, scrolled to read some other things about it to see what's been said, and someone really said that Polteageist was a boring design when, don't take this as me not liking the Gengar designs, there is a Ghost Pokemon that starts as a literal ball of gas and then becomes a plump purple ball XD
The antique is meant to be exactly that- an antique version that only collectors care about, it wasn't meant to be anything big, as evidence by it not even being known until someone found it, iirc.
If anything, I think that the concept, the design, the antique version, the very well done names, and the pretty nice shiny add up to a Pokemon I think is worth saving, and yes I'll die on this hill-

Differences in stats, moves, and abilities make different forms more interesting to use in battle. So if the rare form has none of that, you might just as well settle for the more common form. That's my opinion.

Well yeah, but just because you settle for it doesn't mean the other form sucks. Competitive viability isn't the only thing that matters for a Pokemon. You might as well say "Let's strip down all Pokemon of any form that doesn't have changes beyond cosmetic", which granted, isn't really that many forms, but it's a decent amount(R/B Basculin, Deerling forms, Keldeo, Vivillon, Furfrou, Florges line colors, Xerneas mode, Minior colors, Magearna og color, Alcremie forms, Spinda, Zarude, and arguably some of the Legendaries like B/W Overdrives and the phase forms for S/M, then of course Polteageist), as well as Shinies.

I think it's important to have a bunch of variations, and Pokemon shouldn't ONLY cater to competition- and I think the Antique forms are a pretty creative way to naturally fit an alternate form in for it.

The argument you're making pretty much says people should never use shinies because they're harder to find.

Also yeah, I misread what was said, it was about Sinistea, but I think everything I said still applies.

Sinistea is babea and I love it

edit because quick posts- yeah weak armor sucks ill give you that, but cursed body is pretty nice if you can get it

Random Battles on Pokemon Showdown has made me dislike this.

Almost an instant win for whoever has it. Shell Smash + Strength Sap is just too good.
