Discussion Theme discussion

Okay, it's this time of year again...

Shove all of your awesome ideas here in this thread, discuss them and hopefully we will come out with something.

And my ideas:

- Team-based GT, where the teams are based on the Tapus (one team serves one Tapu) and Alola. Whole event could have tropical feeling. (Pretty much last GT only with different theme)

- GT with darker tone. There would some kind of thread - big Pokémon that wants to destroy whole PC so everyone teams up and tries to take it down. The Pokémon would have set HP and players goal is to bring it down to 0. How? By participating in the events (like for every right answer in trivia quiz, by posting screen in screen capture contest...). Could aslo work as team-based GT, where teams compete to deal the most damage to the Pokémon.

I like combining both but maybe not as bad guys but rare pokemon and each rare pokemon whittled down gets you a burst of additional points??

I actually really like the Tapu theme. It's simple and charming. Though a combination of the two does sound interesting and I'd like to see it explored a little more.

I'm glad you all like the ideas.

Expanding on my 2nd idea and what gimmepie said - going with more lighter tone, we could let people from each team vote for their next target Pokémon (from list of currently available Pokémon) to find, battle and catch. To make it more complicated teams could travel - Each team would start in Pallet/New Bark/Littleroot/whatever starting place and then could move to new areas... Not sure if that would work in the timespan of the event, just throwing more ideas here...

I think we shouldn't make it too complicated. The more complex something is the more ways for things to go wrong.

Yeah, it would be cool to have it, but given that people were confused last year with point system, this would totally blow them :D

It would probably be too much work anyway.

I've got it!
Rather than regions, teams of people working under certain professors. Rather than points, winning/placing events earns Pokemon. The overall winner is decided by dex capacity.

I like all of these, they're pretty unique. Maybe somehow combine them.

We can try an integration of the themes where the participants are divided and "chosen" by the Tapus, with events earning Pokemon like Gimme said.

or do a PMD themed GT and have people be sorted into different guilds and do events as missions :3 guild with the most money glory at the end wins!

then they could also create a GT-sona (a pokémon) and wear it as an avatar/post flair for the duration of the GT~

Tapu idea for me...maybe in which teams are tasked by them to journey out and 'locate' all the Z-Crystals scattered about by participating in events. =') though gotta figure out details on that. just nothing too complex, as was said, or I am sure it will get confusing for both the organizers and participants

I actually like the PMD idea too. Can you expand on that a little? I'm not familiar with the story line and how it would play out.

So, like, this is how I imagine the Tapu theme: member base split into four teams, each represented by one of the Tapus. Members complete events to earn Z-Crystals. Team with the most crystals wins!

Tapu Idea actually sounds really neat. :O

Z-Crystals could be integrated somehow but in my head I feel like the most fluid way of it working is if they're given out as prizes for winning events and whoever has the most Z-Crystals wins at the end of the week or so.

... Maybe I'm just overly simplying how it would go, haha.

This is pretty much how I imagine it too. Only problem I see if there would be more events that Z-Crystals.

There's 17 Z-Crystals + the special Z-Crystals that are more for specific Pokemon which brings it to like 20+. I'm going to be rather cynical and bold here and say that compared to last year (which had ~24 events running), I don't think there's a worry of having more events than Z-Crystals.

Worst case scenario we can just make some up.
