Everyones talking about what they want in eventual remakes, but howabout things we don't want or feel won't happen? This is the thread for that sort of thing.

And as a bonus, you can share that how that gets remedied. Like if they take something out, what would they do to make up for that?

Personally, I feel that between the fact the thr programmers are currently trying to conserve space with models, and the fact the only attack they can ever learn has been wiped out, I feel like Unown is a bit of a lost cause at the time being, and that means the ruins will be completely taken out in remakes. I personally won't mind that though. Maybe they will replace the ruins with a path to more of the region? That would be amazing.

Of course it's still possible that they bring every single creature back though, that is. This is really just speculation.

The Game Corner is definitely gone-zo. This could, of course, be remedied by implementing a number of alternatives Game Freak has already done in the past, like the Pokéthlon, Voltorb Flip, Pokémon Jump or Dodrio Run (anyone remembers the Sevii Islands Game Corner?)

Adding on to Roni's post - I think Pal Park could be implemented if Nintendo released RSE/FRLG in the Switch Virtual Console. We know that the Switch can handle GBA games as a number of GBA titles are there already. From there, it's just a question of accessing the saves.

This could also be used to implement a feature I don't think will be returning - special encounters. The games detected if you had a GBA Pokémon cartridge and if you had, it'd influence the wild Pokémon you could find - it could also maybe be done with Sword and Shield to maybe introduce some Galar Pokémon.

i'm down with them bringing back Voltorb flip since i finally know how to play it lol. also TIL that the Switch can actually take GBA cartridges.

it might not be all that related to the thread, but i truly hope that they keep Cynthia challenging as a Champion. i don't wanna have her reputation tarnished by having all her mons be 1-2HKOs for the sake of dumbing the games down for kids.

The Switch can't take the cartridges per se, I meant it has the titles on Virtual Console.

    Super agree with Cynthia.

I also think that they might do away with the Great Marsh as we currently know it and replace it with a Wild Area. Or at least make it a Pokémon Go-ish experience, which I'd be cool with to be honest. I never liked the Safari Zone experience.

i appreciate the different environments they added like swamps and snow but for the love of god i hope they don't make the movements so slow and bogged down. the original games already ran so slowly and this made it worse. i'm sure the speed of the game won't be an issue on switch, but i still don't want these environment conditions to significantly slow down the movements of the player. it made those areas a chore and i wasn't inclined to explore them at all.

At this point, wouldn't they just go the way of HOME connectivity rather than including Pal Park in Gen 4 remakes?

Who cares? D/p remakes aren't happening.

There probably won't be Pal Park, the Game corner, and most likely Amity Square. Since I'm sure if these games happen, they'd be compatible with Pokemon Home and we wouldn't need to migrate them through "Pal Park" so that won't be included.

I'm going to be honest, I have a feeling ball seals won't come back, or they'll be completely neutered compared to their original iteration. The problem with ball seals is people will use them to write swear words, and considering they've been cracking down on this since Gen 5, I have a feeling this isn't going to be a thing. Sure, they can only bring back the special effect seals, but then it renders the Unown quest with little purpose unless they do something else in its stead. Knowing GF though, I have a feeling they won't and they'll just scrap it completely...

I agree that seals might not come back, unless they find a way to block swear words from being put on the balls. Which, I'm sure is super easy to implament since bad words are already blocked when you try typing them in, anyway.

When it comes to the ball seal situation, I am incredulously sure that the letter seals won't come back. Besides, I did say that unless they bring all the creatures back they probably won't bring Unown back for a while because of it's 28 different models and only knowing a move that's not available in gen8, and if no Unown, then no letter seals.

And I repeat, if no Unown, no Unown quest, and possibly reworking the ruins to a path to more of the region. And maybe that weird digging cave will also be gone and replaced too.

I feel like the underground will be something they'll pass up on remaking for some reason. Running around and tapping things doesn't seem like something that would translate too well to the Switch vs DS. Maybe we'll get something in its place though..?

i honestly fear for the underground's existence in the hypothetical gen 4 remakes. :c the underground was the place to get things like heart stones, fossils, and other particularly rare items much easier and behind a fun little minigame, at that! i really hope Game Freak doesn't do away with it, especially since there's a lot of potential to be had as far as searching around underground with internet friends.
