The very first possession my family brought into the last house we lived in was a can of SPAM. I was obsessed with the Monty Python spam skit in the months before that and I saw a can of it while we were grocery shopping during the move and insisted we buy it. So it ended up being the first thing we brought into the new house when we went to see it, before the movers got there with our furniture, and it was our first "meal" in the new house. (Although I wouldn't call it a meal because we stood there listening to the ssschlloorp sound it made when it slid out of the can and were all so grossed out we couldn't bring ourselves to eat more than a nibble of it.)
Our realtor probably thought we were crazy because it was a big, nice house and the only thing we brought to it was a can of SPAM. (He probably thought right.)
edit: I'M SO GLAD THE SPAM SKIT WAS POSTED WHILE I WAS TYPING THIS UP. I haven't seen it in forever. Damn that's nostalgic.
Eh, it's okay. It tickles the back of my throat for some reason which I don't enjoy but the taste isn't bad. Spam..hot dogs..and other things tickle the back of my throat and it's not a feeling I like to have.
I had a shirt in middle/high school that said "I love to eat it." And it had a picture of spam on it. I took the image off one day. I was a cool kid and then i got in trouble.
Never tried it, and if I have things my way, I never will. Everyone says it's nasty. I'll take their word on it. If I want ham, I'll get better ham than spam.
I remember being a teenager and giggling when I saw it in the grocery store because lol it's spam get it????? D:
D: Why so much hate for spam? I always thought it was relatively delicious, before I turned vegetarian, and stopped eating it completely...Not entirely sure how others cook it, but the way my parents prepared it made the food taste decent, especially with an egg.
I've definitely never had SPAM before, but it just looks weird. I've been curious to try it just to see how it tastes, but I'd really just not rather have processed meat out of a can really. :|
