Music Top 3 songs of your favorite artists

Self explanatory. Feel free to give explanations for your choices.

Here's mine:
Ok so one of my favorite artists at the moment is t+pazolite. His music sounds really weird but that's what I like about it. My top 3 songs by him are (3) Oshama Scramble, (2) Dogbite, and (1) Chrome VOX.
And another artist I like is Lindsey Stirling. I love the combination of violin and dubstep in her music. My top 3 songs by her are probably (3) Underground, (2) Moon Trance, and (1) Shatter Me.

TIME FOR ADAM LEVINE SHILLING BABEEEEE

Maroon 5
1. Myself. This song was actually from when Maroon 5 was still known as Kara's Flowers. Kinda sad that they don't do music like this anymore.
2. Sunday Morning. Yeah, I guess this is a pretty vanilla choice.
3. Maps. It took me a while to get into the chorus, though.

Owl City (wow another Adam to shill)
1. Cave In. I just really like the tone this song sets.
2. Alligator Sky. This one is pretty iconic.
3. Fiji Water. I wasn't a fan of how Adam Young sounded in his new music at first, but this grew on me.
Honorable mention to Kamikaze, because you haven't heard anything if you haven't heard Owl City scream.

"Weird Al" Yankovic
1. Virus Alert. Maybe it's the melody I really like so much?
2. Dare to Be Stupid. It's just a silly, upbeat song.
3. Hardware Store. That outro is just iconic.
Albuquerque gets an honorable mention because it's a such a hilariously written story. Not the best for a musical experience, though.

Neil Cicierega
1. Cabinet Man. I just like upbeat music, no matter the undertones.
2. Lifetime Achievement Award. Another Spirit Phone track. I like this for mostly the same reasons as Cabinet Man, even if it sounds even more frantic.
3. My Trains. This is basically the same kind of deranged story that's told in Albuquerque, but it's shorter.

My music tastes are almost exclusively post-hardcore/progressive rock/experimental rock/emo/alternative rock.

Hail the Sun
1. Domino
2. The Stranger In Our Pictures
3. Glass Half Empty

Dance Gavin Dance - DGD has a such a unique and experimental sound on each of their albums, I love it. Definitely a fun band in the post-hardcore world.
1. Strawberry Swisher, Pt. 2
2. Prisoner
3. Count Bassy

Pierce The Veil - My high school emo phase band is still one of my favorites to this day. Picking a top 3 is hard because I love literally their entire discography.
1. Caraphernelia
2. Chemical Kids and Mechanical Brides
3. Bedless

I Met a Yeti - They're a smaller, newer band, but their music is awesome. The lead singer is a trans female and her vocals are incredible.
1. Blue Eyes White Yeti
2. Cherry Blossom
3. All Magic Users Swim in the Loomy Gloom

My Chemical Romance - Another shoutout to one of my favorite high school emo phase bands. They're probably the easiest to listen to on my list here, so I play their songs when I just want to have a good time.
1. The Ghost of You
2. Vampires Will Never Hurt You
3. Helena

I could do this for a ton of artists, but figured top 5 was enough

Forgive me for any genre whiplash if you look up these songs in order. These are a few of the artists I've been infatuated with over the past few months.
Spoiler:

way too mainstream compared to the others here i believe, but here are my top 3 fave artists and my top 3 tracks for each.

The Strokes
1. Reptilia - first song i heard from them, when i was searching for easy guitar riffs to practice a few years ago, and it instantly hooked me.
2. Soma - favorite song from their first album "Is This It". 2 minutes, tells an interesting story, has sick guitar riff coordination, i love everything about it.
3. Machu Picchu - beat on this is wild. i think this was when they were experimenting with a new sound, but it still sounds so Strokes-y.

Radiohead
1. Bodysnatchers - riff is out of this world. so fun to bang out and sing to, especially when Thom goes balls to the wall wild in the end.
2. Electioneering - another classic with a solid riff. Jonny Greenwood's solo here is super underrated. it needs to be talked about more.
3. High and Dry - aunt used to play this a lot on her speakers and i loved it. loved it even more when i realized they wrote this.

Foo Fighters
1. Monkey Wrench - sounds so fun! this is the first song that comes to mind for me when someone mentions Foo Fighters.
2. Times Like These - i dunno what it is, but ever since my playlist shuffled to this while in the gym a while back, it's shot up to become on of my fave Foo songs of all time.
3. Best of You - I GOT ANOTHER CONFESSION TO MAKE. self explanatory as to why i love this song.

Krizz Kaliko
1.Happyish
2.Any song really.

Tech N9ne
1.I'm Sorry
2. The Rain [partially for that cowboy bebop background sample]
3. Love any song really.

Big K.R.I.T
1.Bigger Picture
2.Bury Me In Gold
3. Justin Scott/Time Machine/Boobie Miles/The Vent

Oddisee
1. What They'll Say/Contradiction's Maze
2. That's Love/Counter-Clockwise
3. You Grew Up

serpentwithfeet
1. bless ur heart - accousting
2. receipts

Anti Lilly /Phoniks
1.Nobody's Perfect
2.Don't (It) Feel So Good

J.Cole
1.Snow on the Bluff
2. Entire KOD album
3.Apparently

Bas
1.Risk
2.Tribe
3.Ricochet

Awon
1. House of Angels
2. Regretfully Unapologetic
3. Lotor

Zico
1. Any Song
2. ANTI
3.Pride And Prejudice

Soil & Pimp Sessions
1. Paraiso [From Michiko e Hatchin]
2. By Your Side
3.Summer Goddess

Alright I'm gonna try and cut it there, otherwise I'd probably never stop.

But honorable mention to raphael saadiq The Answer Pt.2, Luther Superstar, Usher Caught up, & and old favorite Will Downing & Gerald Albright - Wishing On A Star.

Radiohead
1. Bodysnatchers - riff is out of this world. so fun to bang out and sing to, especially when Thom goes balls to the wall wild in the end.
2. Electioneering - another classic with a solid riff. Jonny Greenwood's solo here is super underrated. it needs to be talked about more.

Oh my God I love OK Computer, has to be in top albums of all time, for me its gotta be Exit Music (For A Film) I can just vibe and float away on that song.

Alright! point for being brave. :)

Okay... here goes! I have a couple more than 3 for some artists, but I tried my best!

Heart:

Crazy on You - Quite simply, this is the song that made me fall in love with the Wilson sisters way back when! Make sure you get the full intro.

Dream of the Archer with full Sylvan Song intro - I'm a total sucker for mandolins! This is Battle of Evermore done better.

Not sure about number 3. I listen to soooooo many Heart songs on a daily basis.

Magic Man is moog heaven. Black on Black II is awesome hard rock. The way Ann comes in after the spoken bridge on Desire Walks On melts destroys me every damn time. Barracuda has that riff, Dog & Butterfly is amazing. I adore a awful lot of the Nancy led songs too... I could be here all day so I'll move on!

The Temptations:

Just omg. All of them. I met Dennis Edwards on multiple occasions, but I never got to see Ruffin sing live :(

Papa Was a Rollin' Stone

Ain't Too Proud To Beg

I Can't Get Next To You

April:

I listen to April so much that it is pretty much impossible to pick three, so these are representations of their music. April is my go to when I need cheered up. I owe my sanity and my recovery to them. I just adore their orchestral, elegant and happy pop so much. One of the few Korean groups with a distinct sound, I can always tell an April song a mile away.

April Story and The Blue Bird are just so damn elegant and beautiful.

Oh! My Mistake and LALALILALA show they can bop with the best of them. The way the chorus increases in intensity every time on Oh! My Mistake is goosebump inducing.

Songs like Shall We Love and M.F.B.F. are so cute it hurts, and their soundtrack work, like as Crazy and Falling in Love, is awesome too.

Peabo Bryson:

Can You Stop the Rain - Weird true story of the day: He once sang this to me on a street corner at nearly midnight!

Show & Tell

If Ever You're in My Arms Again

Lee Jinsol:

This Love - One of my favourite songs full stop ❤

I Was Wrong - This girl is the soundtrack queen

Perfect - okay, it's actually sickening how talented she is tbh

IU:

Dlwlrma

Unlucky

You and I

Donovan:

The man who taught fingerpicking to the beatles often gets overlooked as an artist in his own right, which is a shame because some of his earlier stuff is amazing! Then he dropped off a cliff big time :(

Season of the Witch

Sunshine Superman

Hurdy Gurdy Man

Commodores:

Sweet Love

Flying High

Just to be Close to You

I love nearly all of their stuff and I also listen to soooooo much of Lionel's solo stuff

The Four Tops:

The Tops will always be one of my absolute favourite groups. Levi could sing the telephone directory and it would have been amazing ❤

Standing In The Shadows Of Love

Reach Out I'll Be There

I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)

But seriously... all of them.

Blackmore's Night:

Under a Violet Moon and Dancer and the Moon - These songs pretty much sum up the group tbh.

Somewhere over the Sea (The Moon Is Shining) - I love this haunting ballad version over the more popular fast one with the reversed title.

The Peasant's Promise - Renaissance inspiried music at its beautiful best.

Stevie Wonder:

Superstition

Lately

My Cherie Amour

Gladys Knight:

Oh Gladys ❤

I've Got to Use My Imagination

If I Were Your Woman

Take Me in Your Arms and Love Me

But again... all of them.

Sooo many Michael Jackson / Jackson 5 songs...

I haven't even scratched the surface of my favourite artists, but I need to stop because this is already an essay. Don't even get me started on Marvin Gaye or the Supremes or George Benson or RnB or 70's rock or ... :)

Yo that list is a JAM!!

AND you know IU, so cool, have you heard ohHyuk? His voice is amazing. he also has some alt stuff with his own group, (his name reversed I think.) HyukOh

Check out the song they have together.

IU, OHHYUK can't love you anymore

and going through your list i was SO sure you were about to pop off with The Spinners XD

I can't get enough of playing It's a shame.

And Bobby Womack's Fly Me to the Moon

is another soul classic you could just play forever. :)

I gotta do another one

LENNY WILLIAMS
1. Cause I LOVE YOU
2. Me & Mrs.Jones (tower of power years)
3.What is Hip? (Tower of Power years)

Can't Love You Anymore was nearly one of my three but I had a lot to write! I will be totally honest, and I'm very ashamed to say it, but Oh Hyuk was a perfect case of not judging a book by its cover. Before that song, I hadn't heard of him, and seeing his pic I thought, oh great, another rapper. Then he started singing... 😊

I have loved IU ever since Lost Child!

It would have been easier for me to do 30 instead of 3 for her!

I done that post on the fly and have missed loads of people, but as I said, I had to stop, or I would have been there all day!

I love the Spinners and the GC Cameron led It's a Shame is actually my favourite song of theirs!

I was supposed to see GC in concert a couple of years back but it got cancelled. I'll probably never get the chance again now 😕

Other favourites are the Stylistics, the Chi-Lites, Tavares, Smokey Robinson... ok I better stop again sorry 😅

I never really got into ToP for some reason. Not played in the UK much I guess, I need to revisit them sometime.

Me & Mrs. Jones reminds me though. Billy Paul was another of my favourites. Let 'em In is an amazing example of a cover being better than the original song.

Oh yeah he is awesome, I found him from his band first, with their single "comes and goes" but he's just great, if you can find it check out his cover of stevie wonder's isn't she lovely, isn't really mellow, and just nice.

It's a shame is just such a powerful song, and yeah its sad to miss em, I've missed the whispers like 3 times already. Oh yeah you know all the good stuff. :)

It's kind of ironic how I got into tower of power, I love Lenny, but for the longest time I never realized it was him singing with that group,

I believe I actually found them, after I discovered Chicago. I can't remember the exact connection, but I'm pretty sure the first song of TOP I heard, was..

You're Still A Young Man.

And its still one of my favorites. Music is just wonderful.
The only sad thing about having so many favorites and knowing so much music, is that there's so much, I actually forget about them.

I think the closest I've been to ToP is seeing Larry Braggs performing with the Temps 😅

You ever read Soulful Detroit? I don't really wanna mention another forum here but if you like soul, you might wanna have a look over there 😊

Top 3 of my favourite artists, ok... finding the artists will be hard enough but I'll do a top 3 of my top 3 as best as I can!

Zebrahead

1. Shock and Awe by the Sea

Absolutely bombastic song of 2019 for these guys. This was so nice to hear as ever since Walk the Plank I feared Zebrahead were ditching their initial punk roots for this more metalcore sound and then this song came on. This is peak early 00s Zebrahead style and I am HERE for it! It's upbeat, it's funky, the lyrics have that weird Zebrahead charm of meaning something actually quite sad in such a peppy song.

2. Lightningrod

This used to be my favourite Zebrahead song for a similar reason I think to the above. It was so DIFFERENT to their sound at the time. A super sombre song, really slow and feelsy throughout, again it was a standout on the album it was on (Waste of MFZB) which was otherwise a huge high-energy album.

3. I'm Money

PEAK PUNK ZEBRAHEAD LET'S GO! God this song is just absolutely hilarious from start to finish and really shows the harmony between Ali and Justin here. Stupid lyrics about essentially being a chad, really funky and spunky guitars, super upbeat energy throughout. Always great if you need something to up your mood, cause of how goofy it is.

twenty one pilots

1. The Pantaloon

I. Well. Speechless. I don't even know what it is about this song, but just listening to is, no matter what mood or time of day, is great. Even if the theme is essentially highlighting the senility of someone as they grow into old age... somehow the song just paints this so perfectly!

2. Fake You Out

Instantly fell in love with this song when I heard it. This somehow covers like the whole spectrum of what the duo can do. The lyrical theme is fantastic, the synths in the intro are absolutely wicked (and throughout they lend an almost infectious energy) and even what Tyler manages to do with the vocals is amazing. A great song showcasing the raw talent these boys have.

3. March to the Sea

A truly amazing feelsy song, this was my soundtrack to my NYC trip. Walking around whilst listening to this brought a serenity to the busy street life.

Fox Stevenson

1. Endless

A true EDM bop, although this could even borderline Pop tbh. From his first ever EP, this almost has a like chiptune vibe to it; take the vocals away and I could 100% imagine this in something like Oracle of Ages! Add vocals and it adds a whole new elevation to the song.

2. Okay

A short song basically about enjoying summer to its fullest and this song really slams that point home. Lyrics about getting drunk and wasting money, super super upbeat whilst no obnoxious dubstep "drops". Super good.

3. Lava

The vocals are what nail it here for me. I always like this from EDM artists, because a lot of the time I feel they rely on better music than vocals and this does the opposite and I LOVE IT.
