Tug o' War Pokémon edition

106 Megas are my favorite gimmick of all, whether it's a tug-o-war against dynamax, z moves or tera hats. They worked Mega evolution into the story and pokemon lore the most successfully, and the changes are more all-encompassing, as others have mentioned, stats, appearance, typing and abilities can all be changed at once.

I'm not a fan of GF introducing a new gimmick every generation only to drop it in the next. Mega Evolution was a really unique idea and it's a shame they abandoned it after only 3 years in the sun.

Fun fact. I actually really don't care for the Mega evo for my favorite Pokemon. I know that might seem very weird given how popular Mega Absol seems to be, but I'm just not a fan of the design changes all that much, and the loss of the Ability Super Luck is an instant pass from me because of how I run my Absols in games! (max crit chance possible :p)

I love Absol, but I also prefer it the way it already is. It's attack stat will do massive damage without a mega, with the right setup. I rather it hold a focus sash so it can take a hit, and use that extra life to get a swords dance up. While Absol's mega does get excellent speed, since it has a strong priority moves in sucker punch you can make it's base speed work. It's a high risk, but a high reward pokemon and with the right prediction you can sweep teams.

Mega Gallade has a fantatic 'hero' look!

My favorite mega was Sceptile, tjr Christmas tree-tailed dragon! I like to partner mine with a normal Gyarados in double battles. Your opponents have to withstand horrific assaults on both the special and physical side between the two of them, and usually aren't going to be able to deal with that kind of damage on both fronts. Mega Sceptile was also ridiculously fast and Gyarados could quickly become so with Dragon Dance, and shutting it down was harder to do with Sceptile's lightning rod causing all the electric attacks to miss Gyarados and just boost Sceptile's already dangerous special attack levels.

I hope they bring back all the old Megas for the new game, I never had the chance to mess around with a lot of the ones added in OR/AS.

Raichu is one of my favorite Gen 1 Pokemon, and I will almost always have one on my Fire Red team. (and teach it Mega Punch lol)
