I was also pleasantly surprised about Raichu's victory in the electric round. It got my vote, but I know it's a Pokemon that's overshadowed by other stronger electric Pokemon and often is unfavorably compared to it's pre-evolution the series mascot Pikachu, as not as cute. I say Raichu is precious though, and think it's wonderful that it won some attention in it's own right.
Flareon was also a dark horse. It's an Eeveelution that doesn't get as much love as the rest of the family tree, but I have always liked it's design and it's nice to know that I am not the only one who can appreciate the blonde flaming-maned Eevee with the crimson fur and big, dark doey eyes. I may have voted for Arcanine, but support Flareon and congratulate it on it's win.
Braviary was a little surprising but not as much as the other two I mentioned. I have never heard anyone say they disliked Braviary, most of us respect eagles, and it's new form for Legends Arceus continues to stir interest in it. Still it had some competition beating out Charizard, Corvinknight, Lugia, Crobat, Staraptor and going to a stalemate with Dragonite. That's impressive. I was on thr Dragonite team, Iike Braviary too though, and am proud that my favorite dragon is sharing an award with Braviary. Worthy company indeed!
Chimecho was perhaps the biggest upset of the night. It has a delightful little design, I just haven't seen many people use it, and it had maybe the most competive category of all, defeating Alakazam, Latias, Gardevoir, Starmie, Metagross, Mew, Jirachi and going toe toe with Latios-- the blue dragon being the poke I voted for. You're just full of surprises Chimecho, aren't you?
