Vote on your Favorite Protagonist!​

Hello and welcome to a new multi-platform event, that will last several weeks!

In this event, your objective is to vote for your favorite Pokémon protagonist across a series of polls. To begin, we will start by region*, and see who is the favourite protagonist from each area**. Afterwards, the winner will form a tournament round, where we will do 4 sets of up to 4*** winners, and then take the top two options from there into 2 sets of four, then a final poll.

Where can I vote?

You can vote for the first set of people in this thread at the top - the Kanto nominees! You can also vote on our social media pages: Twitter (will use its own poll system), Bluesky (a Google poll), Instagram (a Google poll) and Facebook (a Google poll). Yes, it's better to not go around voting multiple times, but we won't be monitoring things that closely. But don't cheat, that's just boring. This means the winner of each poll will be from all polls (here, Twitter, Google poll) added together, not per platform.

Polls will run roughly 4 days, and be posted every week as a new thread (or on social media, as a new post). We may speed things up for the spin-off regions.

Meanwhile, share some propaganda for your pick each week! Take about why you're voting for your character, and make fun of the others (respectfully, of course). We'll also use the results and input for a Daily article summarising the whole event once it ends.

* Hisui will be treated as separate to Sinnoh.
** Spinoff games will also be considered! Orre will feature, while we will also consider the Ranger games' regions separately, but lump the Snap/New Snap regions (and hence protagonists) together.
*** We may see what the Legends: Z-A protags look like before we hit the tournament phase... pending TPC(i). If so, we'll do a poll on them! Otherwise, one set of 4 polls will have less options... Or we can consider a second chance for the losing protag with the most amount of votes!

Rules

1. No Trolling - This includes things like voting on behalf of other users, inputting joke responses in the Google Forms, using bots or creating alt accounts to try and game the voting system, and other dishonest activities. Please don't do that stuff.
2. Have Fun - We all love Pokémon, and we hope that you derive enjoyment and have a good time with this event!

Previous Polls

Kanto: Red, in a narrow win over Leaf! Chase and Elaine were well behind.
Johto: Kris, in another narrow win over Gold! In fact, Gold won on the forums, but not in the other two platforms. Lyra was a distant third.
Hoenn: May, in the first clear victory in these series of polls. Brendan and his hat were no match.
Sinnoh: Dawn, who basically murdered poor Lucas in the polls.
Unova: Hilda, in a very narrow victory over Rosa (only 2 votes as the difference). This time third place had a respectable turnout (Hilbert), while Nate did okay but was comfortably fourth.
Orre: Wes won out - Michael got some votes especially on Twitter, but couldn't keep up with the cool teen.
Kalos (XY): Serena. It was even on Twitter, but everywhere else, especially on the forums, she ran out comfortably.
Alola: Selene won on each poll convincingly. Chicken hat too powerful!
Galar: Gloria was the victor... over Victor. Every poll was won.

We're going with Ranger protags this week because it's the 19th anniversary of Pokemon Ranger 1 (Japan release)!

oh boy! time for the boy to lose again!

I'm picking Lunick, I loved playing the boy, and besides I love Minun so much more than Plusle. They were both kind of the same character at the end of the day whether you played the boy or the girl, anyway, their personalities were pretty much the same. But, I don't know, I never cared to play as Solana. Kinda disappointed Lunick never got any love at all and wasn't shown in pretty much any shape or form in any of the other forms of media.

Released in 2006 originally with a Wii U re-release in 2016. Pre-dates the Wii for the original release. So, yes, kind of.

Argues the main reason to be a smaller audience, relative to the main series games. Sold 2.93 million units versus 17.67 million units with Diamond + Pearl, or about 1/6th the amount. Featured pretty different gameplay from the main games. Personally thought the gameplay looked boring in the previews.

Lunick gets Minun as a partner Pokemon. I've always loved Minun more than Plusle, so by extension Lunick gets my vote here.

But this is really a vote for his Minun, not him. I like the two Pokemon Ranger 1 protagonists equally. They both have great designs.

I don't recall the first pokemon ranger being a hit because it was an early DS title when not too many people had one, but I know for a fact the 2nd one, Shadows of Almia, was the one everybody had. That one was an absolute smash hit and being the introduction to the Ranger games for a lot of my friends. Myself included.

Lunick is probably my favorite Pokémon Protagonist player-character they've made so far.

I'm typically a fan of the male character designs that are sporty, athletic, or that evoke a sense of sportiness and/or athleticism. So far,
Lunick rocks those vibes the hardest among the male player-character designs we've gotten to this point. And frankly speaking, I'm also a sucker for visible or visibly alluded muscle tone; Lunick's design is the most fit and muscular among any player-character. (Solana's is, too, among the female player-characters.) Most Pokemon player-characters are too young to typically have any visible muscularness to them. And most of the handful that could be old enough have designs that opt for more uniformly slender physiques. This makes Lunick quite unique in this regard.

And it fits him so well! That's the other big reason I like Lunick. His design and its aesthetical vibe completely match his role as a teenage Pokémon Ranger who would sensibly need to be in that kind of shape for the position he's in and, in turn, would have more than a casual reason to wear an outfit as sporty and athletic as the one he does (his Ranger uniform).

I never played any of Rangers games, so this is hard. I find myself gravitating more towards the Minun one.

Reminder that this is a quicker poll! It closes within half a day, then we'll move onto the 2nd game. At time of writing, things are perfectly split on the forum's poll.

Personally speaking, Ranger 2 is the only one I played. Rock_Salazar mentioned the 2nd one is more known, although a quick google suggests the first one has more sales.

Well... uh, when I tallied them up, it was tight on every poll (well, one had hardly any votes, but I digress). So it had actually been a draw.

I encouraged some overtime voting on the discord via the google form, and we got a couple more votes. Those all went to Solana, so blame them if you prefered Lunick!
