Do you mean that I can't use the same stone on more than one Ampharos, or that I can't have fully raised Ampharos and then try to mega evolve it? Just want to make sure I understand!

You can't have a fully raised Ampharos and then try to Mega Evolve it. Because you've already gotten your points for the normal Ampharos and you may have used that Pokemon for something else (Legendary or Master). I hope that makes better sense. :D
