We are 8 billion.

Oh! The other day I read another article on this which posed another interesting point: it's gonna be a while until we reach the next billion milestone. We might be 8 billion now, but birth rates are decreasing worldwide and estimates are that by the next century or so (provided there isn't a great disaster like a worse pandemic than COVID-19, another world war or what have you), the population will actually start declining.

...Bummer I won't live to see that day. 8 billion is too many of us, especially when just 1% holds most of the wealth in the world. What is left for most of us?

We better start slowing down because we don't have the technology or decency yet to care for all our individuals.

As harsh as it sounds, that's too many. I hope the population declines naturally through lower birth rates and wider generational gaps ala Japan.

Also, apparently the world dog population is 900 million.
world needs more

That's a lot of people... I heard that it'll take a very long time to reach 10,000,000,000, though? Maybe that's for the best.
