What are you reading?

The Tempest by William Shakespeare, which is part of one of the classes i'm taking this semester. I'm not much far into it but we all know how famous it is.

We even finished reading Alice Walker's The Color Purple. I've also had to read some short stories for said class, too.

I finally let myself start George R. R. Martin's A Dance with Dragons, but I'm trying to read it slowly since we have no idea when the next one will be coming out. Like the rest of A Song of Ice and Fire, it's just excellent in terms of the characters, world, and overall plot. I'm stoked for the new season of the show!

I just started Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. I'm actually reading it for class, and thoroughly enjoying it so far. I did read this one a few years ago, but my memory of it is pretty vague...

The Introvert Advantage: How to Thrive in an Extrovert World

I actually remember my mom's now ex husband reading/listening to this on our trip to florida a couple of years ago and so I decided to give it a shot. I remember it sounding interesting while I was listening to it, but going and actually reading it it's so incredibly boring, but I've already started reading it so I must finish it. I saw a quote once, "Don't stop believing. If you believe in something that you really want you can make it happen." I really believe this book will eventually get interesting. -crosses fingers-

I just started Black No More by George S. Schuyler. It's a satirical science fiction novel written in the 1930s, in which a doctor creates a machine that can turn black people into white people to try and eliminate the "race problem". It's playing out very much like Dr. Seuss' The Sneetches. It's an enjoyable read so far.

I'm setting aside Gravity's Rainbow for a little bit to read Things the Grandchildren Should Know by Mark Oliver Everett. it's a memoir written by the guy from Eels. it's very interesting and depressing so far, and it's the break I fucking needed from Pynchon's batshitness.

Reading Servant of the Empire at the moment, by Raymond E. Feist and Janny Wurts. I love the pseudo-Sengoku era culture of the Tsurani, and the political machinations of the main character are interesting and quite exciting to read. Plus both writers are absolutely fantastic. A little cliche in a couple of places - namely the romance - but still a good read.

I just finished Unbearable Lightness: A Story of Loss and Gain by Portia de Rossi - it was an autobiography about her history of eating disorders and I actually enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

I'm debating on what to pick up next, I just put about two dozen books on my Kindle so I have so many choices that I can't decide :( I need to pick one quickly though, I'm already lagging behind on my goal to read 36 books this year lol.

Problem at Pollensa Bay by Agatha Christie. My school library wanted to decommission it from their shelves so I took it upon my duty to give it a new home. (Blake keeps putting her weird bookmarks in it though.)

I'am reading Shakespeare and I'am not understanding anithing T______T .. sigh

I'm reading The Conjure-Man Dies by Rudolph Fisher. It's a murder mystery written during the Harlem Renaissance (1932), and the first known mystery to be publish by a black author.

I'm loving it. The writing style is great and the characters are really fun so far.

The Summoning by Kelley Armstrong - I found this book while cleaning one day, covered in dust. I bought it way back when Twilight was new and popular, and this book was written to cash in on that fad. Except The Summoning is about ghosts instead of vampires! It's written about as well as expected, being a Twilight-clone. So glad I only picked up the first book instead of the entire series.

Lovelock by Orson Scott Card and Kathryn H. Kidd- This is my first time reading this book after hearing just how great it was from other Card fans. And it is great. The story's interesting, the characters are fun and lively, and I'm really disappointed that it was written in 1991. We've been waiting for 24 years for a sequel, and it's a disappointment that there's only one book in this series.

Emily's House by Natalie Wright

It's actually a series. See, my mom and I went to the renaissance festival. This lady was selling her book series there. We both thought it looked very interesting and what not, so we ended up buying the three books in this series, plus the one from the book series she's working on right now. It's actually really good so far. Her writing is very easy for me to process, and I like that because I don't always process what I'm reading very well at times.

Divergent :3 I got Insurgent and Allegiant for my birthday from my sis, so I need to finish the first book already haha.

I stopped reading Mockingjay also, idk, I just forgot about it. But I need to finish it before I watch the last movie! Or maybe I don't. I'm not sure if I want to watch the movie first or read the book aaa.
