I played Pearl and Heart Gold too, but I solo'd them with my starters. My main Gen 4 games are Diamond and Soul Silver.

I'm playing HeartGold and my team is currently: Quilava, Lucario, Horsea, Haunter, Golbat and Magnemite. Bit different to what I usually have but I really fancied trying out a Crobat this time round as I ain't had one before.

Rik (M) Gentle nature Lvl 18
I have not used the Chimchar for years, and I used the other 2 in my last runs of this region. Nature has proven to be really bad, but he still helped me solo the first gym with Mach punch. That kinda explains why he's overlevelled.

Rina (F) Relaxed nature Lvl 13
I decided to be smart this time and teach her Rock smash. So far, she has actually proven to be much batter than my previous Bidoof, though she has a much worse nature(slowest team member). But hopefully she will live further.

Jake (M) Timid nature Lvl 13
I must admit grinding Shinx is really hard at this leg of the game, it only get Tackle, and does not learn a good attacking move until level 13. At least Bidoof can, of course learn Rock smash and get STAB off Tackle. the fact that mine is Timid does not help much either, but thankfully, he has intimidate, so I hope that would help him. He also just learnt Spark, so that's good too.

Cheryl (F) Bashful nature Lvl 13
After having my SS Golem get his ass handed to by that smoke bomb, and repeatedly catching Geodudes in other runs with **** natures/abilities, I finally find one that is actually usable. She still has the 'meh' sturdy though. Hoping she will do well in the long run.

That's about it. I also have Starly, Kricketot and Machop in my box. I made a 'hidden' rule to not party mons that I've used before/currently using unless it's an emergency/I get a wipe. Starly and Machop are out as a result. The bug was a pain to grind, so I saved time and boxed him.

Update, I have 3 badges now, and I'm grinding for my fourth. I still intend to document this run, so MAJOR spoilers.

Rik(M) Lvl 33, Gentle, Often lost in thought.
He's proving to be good despite being really fragile on the physical side. I can't wait for him to evolve as well. His stats are 88/61/38/66/45/63 and he has Flame wheel, Mach punch, Ember, and Taunt.

Cheryl(F) Lvl 32, Serious, Good endurance.
Shockingly enough the only non-starter who is still alive from the last time I posted here, but for a good cause. She has been a solid tank so far, hoping the best for her. Her stats are 104/81/98/45/54/45 and she has Rock blast, Defense curl, Rock throw, and Magnitude.

Maya(F) Lvl 32, Naughty, Very finicky.
My counter for the Lucario in the fighting gym. I also decided to use my Earthquake TM on her as otherwise she would have to rely on an inaccurate but decent attack or a accurate but not decent attack for ground coverage. Her stats are 116/70/58/74/53/38 and she has Earthquake, Mud bomb, Body slam, and Water pulse.

Steve(M) Lvl 32, Hasty, Good endurance.
He used to lag a bit, but is now getting better, especially now he has Air slash. I heard many people like Noctowl, hoping that they are right. His stats are 117/44/42/63/69/63 and he has Confusion, Hypnosis, Air slash, and Uproar.

Kaitlynne(F) Lvl 31, Docile, Somewhat of a clown.
A replacement for my fallen Bibarel. She has been murdering stuff with return, so I'm glad I added her, though she won't be doing much at the next gym. Her stats are 105/56/53/61/67/52 and she has Encore, Wake up slap, Return, and Magical leaf.

Fabian(M) Lvl 31, Gentle, Loves to eat.
I have had shockingly bad luck with gentle in this run, but so far he is proving to be solid during grinding. While defense drop on an already frail poike is bad, I'm hoping he is worth it. His stats are 90/50/43/77/74/91 and he has Shock wave, Sand attack, Double kick, and Quick attack.

Harris(M) Lvl 31, Quirky, Strongly defiant.
It's funny; Tropius was always one of those mons who I always complained about appearing too late in the games, but somehow managed to get during a time when I need it most. His offences suck right now, but otherwise he is doing fine. His stats are 109/47/60/50/65/39 and he has Magical leaf, Stomp, Sweet scent, and Aerial ace.

So that's my box. I'm thinking of taking Rosnerg out because I've heard nothing but good things about Gallade, and the hipster inside of me is also telling me to go and grind everyone in the box barring the ones I crossed out until they evolve. Crazy, but maybe it would be good in the long run, considering that Plat is famous for being hard when you don't know it.

That's all for now. a bit worried about the fighting gym as most of my mons don't have good physical defence- theone with the highest physical def is weak to fight. I still hope to get out of the gym deathless. And RIP Rina the Bibarel Lvl 3-21 died against a crit from a Kadabra and RIP Jake the Luxio Lvl 4-28 I'm just gonna say **** the ghost leader and end this here.

Well, after a massive hiatus of maybe around several months(Yes, I have been working on this run even before joining this site) after a teammate dying, I've finally decided to come back to my 2nd HG run! Of course, it will be spoilers if you read Shinermaun's Revenge(which is also on hiatus, somehow.), so here is the current gang. I am at the Rocket Hideout, as of now.

Also, they are all at level 33. Therefore, I will not provide the level they are at in the spoiler as they all are at the same level.

Johny(M), Careful, Somewhat stubborn.
If you couldn't tell from my sig, then I will say it now- Feraligatr is my favourite starter, water mon, and one of my fav mons in general. He has proven to be a BOSS so far, and has yet to let me down. His stats are 108/84/76/54/74/66 and has Headbutt, Crunch, Surf, and Ice fang. Will give him Waterfall when I get to that stage.

Sal(F), Modest, Likes to run.
I didn't intend to use her at first, but then I saw modest and was like "Why not?". Turns Out I made the right decision, because Compoundeyes Sleep powder does wonders. Her stats are 87/36/43/75/60/66 and has Sleep powder, Silver wind, Gust, and Psybeam.

Amber(F), Docile, Often dozes off.
My first HG run taught me that Ampharos can be a destroyer at times, so I was very happy to bring her in. She lagged a bit at some points, but is now proving to be really great and I'm glad to have her join the team, so I can't wait for Discharge. Her stats are 112/64/57/83/73/51 and has Strength, Thunderpunch, Thundershock, and Thunder wave.

Zeynolds(M), Naive, Mischievous.
I heard that evolving Togetic by trading over the evo stone is still legit, so I decided to try that out to make him more useful. His stats are 105/48/77/95/75/70 and has Headbutt, Fly, Extrasensory, and Encore.

Marcia(F), Serious, Likes to run.
A replacement for my dead Sandshrew. I like both of the Nidos, but I wanted the male one more because 1. To neutralise the team's genders, and 2. At that point of time, I felt I needed a fast, strong mon. But the female's line is also very powerful, so it does not matter. She has kicked tons of butt and was responsible for soloing the 6th gym despite being 3 levels below the ace. I'm on high hopes that she doesn't die. Her stats are 108/68/70/60/65/71 and has Dig, Body slam, Surf, and Double kick.

Trisha(F), Calm, Capable of taking hits.
Felt the team needed a tank, so I brought her in. Despite having a basic moveset, she has done a solid job taking hits. I'm hoping she would live. Her stats are 111/45/87/53/103/57 and has Shadow ball, Quick attack, Iron tail(Idk why), and Confuse ray.

So that's the current team for ya. RIP Larry the Sandshrew got killed from a crit from a policeman's Growlithe and RIP Forestine the Fearow just... no. Let's just end this here.

So between today and yesterday, I did a really really fast run through Soul Silver so I could prepare for a coming challenge i'll be doing in Heart Gold in 2016. My team was Meganium, Machamp (traded at Goldenrod), Magnezone, Golduck and Magmortar, the very latter of which was a Magmar for most of the game. (So many M's...) I beat Lugia within the same day I started the game, beat Lance around 2:30 today and beat Red just before 8, which shows how little time I had to waste.

It was the first time i've ever had a Meganium in HGSS. I also beat three of Erika's Pokémon with a Level 48 Golduck thanks to Blizzard (I froze her Victreebel solid), which made me feel pretty cool. B)

Team A was my previous team before I restarted the game. Team B was the team I beat Red with in my Nuzlocke of the original Silver, and I wanted to play with them in the remakes. Team C (with Burnsy being the exception) were Pokemon I rarely ever use, so I wanted to try them out. I kept rotating the teams periodically (except Burnsy, who was in all 3 teams). It was really fun, but the grinding was very tedious. If only Gen 6's EXP mechanics existed back in Gen 4.
