What's the postgame like for you?

Usually, I set a goal to beat every postgame boss that isn't in a Battle Facility, (e.g. most League/rival rematches), unless they're extremely tedious to unlock, like the Emerald Gym Leader rematches. I usually skip the Platinum League rematches too since they're just a level increase with no team changes, apart from Cynthia's team which has slightly-weaker movesets. I also try and either catch or faint every legendary, depending on whether I can use that legendary in whatever challenge I'm doing.

Once that's done, I tend to move on to the next game.

I typically start EV-training the OU Pokémon of that generation, then store them in my Pokémon Bank for future gens. My Bank currently has OU Pokémon dating back from HeartGold.

A lot of times I do try to fill up the Pokedex but that does get boring after a while. Mostly because it drives me to play a different pokemon game and fill up the Pokedex in that game. It leads to a neverending scenario of trying to complete the Pokedex each time which is why I have never been able to accomplish that. Even when I had access to cheating devices I still couldn't do it. All that's left is usually the battle frontier and I don't really enjoy that.

Unless the game offers actual post-game content (such as new locations with additional Pokémon and new battles) that seems made with care and worth playing, I just consider it done after the credits roll. Not gonna invest another 40 hours in a game that has already shown the best it had to offer when I can play another Pokémon game or something else.

It depends on the game! For older ones like Gold & Silver, I'd usually just explore, rematch trainers, and maybe try to complete the Pokédex. But in more recent games, I like to shiny hunt, build competitive teams, and do any postgame battles (like the Battle Frontier in Emerald or the DLC areas in newer titles).

What about you? Do you go all-in on shiny hunting, or do you have other postgame rituals?

The main thing I do at this point is shiny hunt. I already completed the dexes in all the games I have, so that's one less thing to do (and that means I have the shiny charm ofc). Sometimes I will dabble in the battle facilities, but I don't really have good teams most of the time. I am trying to get better with actually breeding and raising mons for teams. One thing I like to do in White 2 is going to every single hidden grotto and seeing what's there.

On most repeat playthroughs I usually don't do the postgame. But on the first one and whichever ones I happen to feel like doing the postgame, it's whatever content the game happens to have (Delta Episode in ORAS, the DLCs in gens 8/9, Kanto in the Johto games, etc), whatever movies I still haven't done in PokeStar Studios in B2W2 (I think at least one is unavailable until postgame too), and the Battle Tower/facility. Sometimes I try to complete the regional Dex, though I often give up on that before completion because I don't care for trade evos and version exclusives and shit like Palafin lol. Never bothered with shiny hunting.

I'll do post-game story content and unlocked routes/areas, if any.

I get my in-game party up to level 100.

In Leaf Green, Platinum, and Y, I've completely filled out the Pokedex. Nowadays, I don't bother with that anymore. At best, I'll take the "Erika" approach to the Pokedex, based on her after-battle quote:

Basically, I'll attempt to fill out the Pokedex except for the ugly (IMO) ones.

I used to breed and EV train for online battles, but I haven't been bothered to do that since 6th gen. I'll give the battle facilities a try, but I don't think there's one game where I've beaten all the facility bosses. RNG strongly favoring the CPU and all that.

I've never been compelled to shiny hunt, tbh.

Honestly, I don't have the time to do post-game stuff as much as I used to. Other, better quality games get my time and attention.

Looks around for any newly unlocked areas or events. Explores those. Probably sets down the game once those have been completed, at least for a while. Might return after another game or two to do something like the Battle Tower or Pokedex.

May do more under certain time-based circumstances, however. Needed to do the Charizard raid in Paldea, for example. Meant getting Pokemon in fighting form. Also planned to meet with a sibling to trade for version exclusives. Might as well complete the Pokedex (or get a good start on it).

I mean

For me, post game has to compete with the fact that I probably have the urge to play other games at that point. This applies to most games and not just Pokemon. If I finish the main story, it has to be interesting enough to compel me to hang around and not immediately play something else. If I thought the game was average then I'm unlikely to even try the post game. I'm more likely going to just do any extra story events and not fill the Pokedex.

I played the post game of Crystal, Black/White, Alpha Sapphire/Omega Ruby, Ultra Sun/Moon, and Explorers of Sky. I do also enjoy Emerald's Battle Frontier although I would never even come close to finishing it.

I didn't remember Erika said that, but wow... strange words for a trainer who uses Victreebel, Tangela and Vileplume. Can't tell if her concept of attractiveness is super wide or the translators just made up that text :)
