    ...what do you do?

Building off of my lost and found thread, what would you do if you found a wallet with no identification but contained $1000? Would you try to find the owner of keep the money for yourself? Would you feel guilty if doing so?

If it was in USD it would have been dropped by some silly american tourist and since I really could care less about them I'd just keep it. It would be really nice to have the money for rent to move out or food, or something like that.

Okay, I just really need the money and I'm greedy.

As much as I'd love to have that much money (I'm working towards just earning $200 right now), I'd turn it in to the Police because if I did have that much money, and I lost it, I would go crazy trying to find it.

I would turn it to a Lost & Found stand or a police station to give it to its rightful owner. I do not want to be a mere thief.

I'd keep it and save it for emergencies. Heck, I could even help my mom with that kind of money with rent and such

Lol, I'd keep it. Unless I somehow knew the person who lost it, that is. If not, the money's mine, tough luck to whoever dropped it. Should have thought twice befor carrying such a large amount of cash.

lol I think the same way ;D

I would keep it as well because without identification the rightful owner likely wouldn't be found anyways. Plus finders keepers amirite?

I would find the owner. It's the correct thing to do, despite the fact that I'm a rather greedy person when it comes to money. I don't want to be accused of stealing the money as well if the owner managed to track me down, because they'd have proof that I was the one holding their wallet.

Of course I could just leave the wallet be and take the cash as well (since there's no written owner of cash), but I'm not like that at all hehe 8)

Assuming a person that forgets or loses their wallet is statistically more likely to use the money inefficiently than a more vigilant wallet owner, such as myself, I would keep the wallet. It's the only ration and moral thing to do ;)

I'd probably do the same thing I did when I actually did find a woman's wallet with credit cards in it:

Track down the owner or his/her family and return it.

Seriously, it made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Keep it. There's the off chance they come to get it, but hell, the money will be well hidden by then. If you dropped that kind of cash, you really didn't need it anyway.

Considering how we're barely paying rent at the moment, I'd feel bad about it, but I'd keep it.

I don't think I could keep it. The guilt would eat me up before I could even attempt to spend it

If I were to find a wallet with that much cash in it, I'd turn it into police if either: a) there was any sort of identification beyond ID such as credit/debit cards, business cards, etc., or b) it's a wallet with a very unique, easily describable design (ex: a pink-white tiger striped wallet vs. a plain black tri-fold).

If the wallet I found didn't meet either of those criteria, I'd keep the money for myself. Sure, I might feel a little bad about keeping it, but if it were a generic looking wallet with no ID, there isn't much evidence left for anyone to claim it anyway. That, and if you're carrying around that much cash on you like that, you mustn't be very responsible, and it was only a matter of time before you lost it.
