Absolutely try Virtue's Last Reward. And it may not be a 3DS game, but also play 999 (though it's not required to understand the story of VLR).

I had VLR for Vita. I played the game all the way to a plat trophy. Great game with a great story. So even without playing it on 3DS I know story is great and would for sure pick it up.

But if it's not on, then I'm just playing on an overpriced 2DS. D:

No, but really, I keep it on. My first game was Mario Kart, and I was so excited about having a 3DS that I played the whole game in 3D. Can you imagine playing Mario Kart in 3D? Well I did, and I'm used to it now, so I pretty much play everything in 3D.

I use it at times. Not too often, but I do like to see what things look like in 3D (and it helps with depth perception in say Kid Icarus: Uprising).

I turn it on and off whimsically in Monster Hunter. It makes judging distances more difficult, ironically, so I never use more than the lowest setting. But, also, it disables the poor anti-aliasing and so makes the textures stop looking blurry, which is nicer in my opinion than having anti-aliasing to begin with. So, sometimes it's on (usually when Agnaktor is involved since it looks quite spectacular), mosttimes it's off. My ideal for the game would be having no anti-aliasing or 3D, but we only ever get that sort of freedom in PC games.

In MGS3D I turn it on only during cutscenes.

In Pokémon I never turn it on since it comes with a heavy performance hit.

I use it for cutscenes and that's about it. If I'm in an area that looks like it'd be neat in 3D though, I'll switch it on. But I never use it, honestly. Maybe I should have just gotten a 2DS. :P

Although its a cheap platformer that borrows the crushing from Crush3D and the jumping is a bit wooden, Shifting Worlds is a great budget title that really has some evil puzzles in the last 2 worlds. Also comes with a great Time Attack mode with different levels from the main adventure.

I'll admit I'm not a big fan of 3D usually, although a cool idea like in movies/comics, ect. When the consoles/pc ect advertisied 3D function for some games, and 3D TV's became a thing, I wasen't interested.

But I LOVE the 3DS's 3D effect. I usually always keep it on, atleast on the lowest setting or near there. And it breaks my heart that Pokemon dosen't really have it. Maybe since I used it so much it dosen't hurt me anymore that much, still kinda does, and I wear glasses, but like said above it feels not right without it.

When I used to have my OG 3DS, never. I bought the console for the games, despite the original focus on the games having some sort of 3D.

    New 3DS consoles revealed

With speed improvements (about 2X based on the direct), improvements to 3D sweet spot, NFC, MicroSD, improved battery life, auto brightness and built in circle pad pro functionality, how do you think this will impact future 3DS games? Xenoblade Chronicles is going to be exclusive on this new system, due to improved hardware.

The new 3DS will be fully backwards compatible with existing 3DS and even DS games. Some exceptions do exist. (Japanese)

    Images in spoiler tags below.

    Spoiler:

    Comparison:

    Spoiler:

Both consoles will be out in Japan on Oct 10 2014. The new consoles will be out 2015 in the West.
    New 3DS - ¥16,000 (faceplates range from ¥1,000 to ¥3,000)
    New 3DS LL - ¥18,800

Will you be getting the system? Why/Why not?
Personally, I'm getting it due to the prospect of exclusive titles (Gen VII Pokemon perhaps?)

I'm kinda mad because not all of us have money to throw around for every single new model that comes around. x.x

However being able to slide out different covers for your 3DS sounds awesome and it's bigger than the old 3DS without being an XL so I'm definitely gonna consider getting it if it ever comes out to the U.S.

The fact that you can't swap covers with the XL makes the new original the better option to get your money's worth.

At the cost of a smaller screen than the XL, mind. =p

Talk about a surprise! Looks like this is in some ways the new 3DSi (ala DSi to the regular DS/DS Lite). And I didn't think I would want to buy it, unless my 3DS XL had problems or a really nice limited edition one came out.

Then I saw that it'd have some games exclusive to it, and one of them is a Xenoblade port. @_@ WHELP Talk about being conflicted now!

Not until 2015 for western shores it seems (unless America get it earlier than Europe, the only ones to confirm dates thus far?). Given it has a built in second circle pad, I think it's really just begging to be released bundled with Monster Hunter 4, which'd want a second circle pad anyway and is 'early 2015' atm too.

Compared to the DS-> DSi, this is a much more compelling update. It's fairly faster than the original models (the DSi wasn't that much faster than the original DS). And now there's going to be full-fledged "new" 3DS titles that won't run on the original system, compared to some DSi enhanced or DSi Ware. DSi enhanced titles will still run on the original console.

The deal breaker here is DS backwards compatibility. It wasn't mentioned anywhere in the direct, and battery figures show no sign of it either. Confirmed to retain DS backwards compatibility.

You have a point. However I hate how DS games look on a 3DS so I always play my DS games on my DSi so that won't bother me.

I've checked the Japanese webpage, the new 3DS models WILL have DS backwards compatibility, which is great.

Will be updating the first post shortly.

See, I get why people are complaining about a fragmented 3DS due to new features having been added (something that, ironically, some fans have actually been clamoring for, but still understandable) and games being specifically for it, which is a very fifth gen idea, similar to the 64DD, but I don't mind.

After all, disregarding the new features, my 3DSXL has a dead pixel, and now I have an excuse to get rid of it :q

And Xenoblade for it makes it all the more delicious. It really does seem like a fantastic upgrade. Again, the complaints and worries are legitimate, but they'll get over it. People always do.

No reason not to get this one, other than the price, which is very expensive here in Brazil since Nintendo refuses to acknowledge the South American market.

It means I'll have to sell my old XL, too. I'm actually very pissed off about this...

Why not import one from the US in the future using a courier service like comgateway?

Sorry if I sound ignorant. I'm not, just curious.
