What's the best bit of advice you've been given in your life?

Someone once told me to 'keep smiling and believe in what you're doing' and I've followed it ever since.

    ^How shameless. XDDDDD

The best piece of advice I've been given is: getting involved in anything only leads to heartbreak, so try not to do that.

    "stop thinking"

Sounds bad, but was awesome. Is awesome. Of course sometimes I really need to think and not let my overflowing emotions control me to the right and left, but many times it's good to just stop overthinking everything and just be who you are.

    "Everyone is an asshole."
Came from some random video I watched on Youtube some time ago.

It's not about doing nothing because of a potential heartbreak. It's about doing something because of the heartbreak. That's how you become a mirror that reflects the ugly faces of others back at them.

'you are more authentic the more you resemble the things you've dreamed of being'

I saw Terry Pratchett at a book signing once and he was answering questions from people and someone asked about his writing technique. He said "Spew and mop." Get it all out there and don't worry about the quality. The important thing is to get it out there. You can clean up later. As more time goes by I think this applies to more and more areas of my life. I'm often a perfectionist and that trips me up and stops me from getting things done because I worry about doing things the right way. It's good advice to help you get going.

"The past is a learning post, not a hitching post" my mom says this, and it's really good for me since I tend to dwell on the past a lot D:

You know what I live by? I've struggled with major depression for as long as I can remember, but one thing that helps me keep my head up.. There are two kinds of forces external and internal. External forces are things like hurricanes, earthquakes, and tornadoes. In other words, things we can't control, like the death or loss of a loved one, poverty, being mistreated or bullied.. But there are internal forces, too. Internal forces are the way we react to them, which we are actually in full control of. When it rains, you can either think to yourself that you're going to get sick or you can embrace the rain and dance in it. I know I probably said this wrong but.. Hopefully you get what I mean. :)

    "you can't please everyone"
it's such a simple and obvious line but sometimes i have to tell myself this being the people pleaser i am. i worry about others too much sometimes and i need to realize i need to put myself first in some situations. it also makes me reflect on how unrealistic it is to make everyone happy and the amount of people who have let me down.

You and me both. I'm really insecure about the way I do things and I worry about offending people I care about or not doing what they hope for or letting people down. And when I do let people down, I keep yelling at myself internally like 'I should have done this! Or I should have said this! UGH.. I'm such an idiot!' Yeah, that's just something really good to keep in mind. After all, if someone was in your shoes and was incredibly worried about pleasing you and stressed and stressed over it, you'd probably not want them to worry, right? :P

-Worry is like a rocking chair- it gives you something to do but it does not get you anywhere.

-Only worry about what you can control. Dont worry about what you cannot.

(as you can probably tell, I used to have anxiety and worried a ton)
