As night came upon Arxium, the castle came alive with the orange glow of torchlight. The Queen invited all of her citizens into the grand banquet hall.
The city had already dwindled to such numbers that everyone fit rather comfortably.
She'd decided that the city could use something of a morale booster. Plus, this left interesting opportunities to monitor everyone for the night.
With Baldassare dead, there was no one there to keep her generosity in check. With her son alive and well, her peaceful heart remained as such. This was going to be a bountiful night.
As everyone entered the hall, Queen Avra beckoned them each to take a seat.
"Welcome, my dearest Arxians. Tonight, amidst this time of great sorrow, we celebrate the life that we all hold onto, and the memories of all those that we have lost. Tonight, we feast! Tonight, we rejoice!"
Applause broke out as food emerged from the kitchens.
"And, lastly," the Queen continued as she thought back to her conversation with
Naku from earlier. The priest had advised her to offer some sort of boon to her guests. Perhaps enchanted food options, or some selection of gifts, or anything else the Queen could think of. She decided to go with the gifts idea.
"Each and every one of you may choose one gift, from your Queen to you, which you may open once everyone has selected a gift. Afterwards, you may trade gifts as you see fit, but only for tonight!"
With a wave of her hand, a pair of servants unveiled a table piled high with gifts of all shapes and sizes. No one would no what was inside until everyone had selected a single gift.
"Now, choose your gift, and converse among yourselves as you see fit, all night long!"
Tonight, all night actions have a fifty percent chance of being publicly witnessed!
Additionally, everyone may select one gift from the following list! Gifts will be opened once everyone has selected one. Gifts may be traded freely once (or even before!) they are opened, but only before dawn comes!
