#25 Emblems

Question Of The Day #25: What is your opinion on the emblem system?

As long as I have been around on this site, emblems have been a trophy case for PokeCommunity members over the last few years. The characteristics of these emblems range from being a challenge's prize, a successful pairing, for asking to be a Moderator way to many times, and the list goes on and on. However, a lot of these emblems seem to be hidden from the masses, and thus can sometime's be hard to come by in terms of obtaining them.

What are your opinions of 'emblems'? Do you like getting them, or do you believe that they are frivolous things on this site? What is your opinion on the process of how emblems are given out? Do you believe that you are often overlooked when it comes to an emblem being awarded to you? What is your favorite emblem that you have ever been awarded?

I really like the idea of emblems but we don't use them very well. It's like achievements in video game, some are really hard to get, some are downright stupid. I mean there is an emblem for asking for mod, like wtf

I really like their concept but find emblems themselves to be really, really forgettable. Doesn't help that I don't get notified when receiving emblem PMs so in the end they end up tucked away and forgotten about in my head - would love if we could expand on them in some way. The system could be so much bigger and better if the right changes were made to it. As it stands I don't believe they're anything too impressive for most members and certainly not myself. ];

Some of you may know me as someone who likes collecting achievements, so that's why I enjoy getting new emblems. You can take a look back at some of the things you've gotten to do on the forum, so I like it for that. However, some of the emblems don't really explain what you get them for...

I really like emblems.
They're a record of noteworthy things you have done as a part of PC, be those achievements or stupid/funny things.

I like getting emblems, for some reason being noticed and acknowledged even online is a really positive feeling.

I love emblems and I love getting them. Its a reminder that you participated or even won a event, or that you were noticed for something. They're a small part of PC, and probably not much value over all else.

As for the system, I think it is a bit clogged up, I believe that some people are worth a emblem but do get over looked as their is a few emblems and a whole lot of members, and I don't think that Staff really keep a good eye out (no offense to staff), those emblems are more as a after thought I think.

Trying to get the Gender Bender Emblem was my whole life purpose and now that I have it I have no reason to live anymore now . Although looking back at my pile of emblems, there are some which I don't remember getting haha.

But seriously, emblems are really fun to obtain, but as said wish that they could somehow be a little better and more put out there I guess? Great remembrance to events you've done in the past, but I feel like mine have been just scattered from events (both winning and just participation)..
It's more fun when you get one randomly by being noticed for something. How often do staff give them out anyway now?

I like emblems, they're pretty much the only thing that adds any color to my profile and when I look at my emblem page it's pretty much just like seeing a shorthand version of my PC experience. There could be a few more in there here and there, but overall it's been a fine experience. If I ask for something to be handed out it usually gets handed out, if I ask for a certain emblem or if I've achieved something I don't usually have to nag a mod to get it done. There are times when emblems get forgotten, but there's always emblem maniacs that make people remember that emblems are a thing. So far my favorite emblem is The Marathon - Superhuman which I got from finishing The Marathon first. Just looks so good.

I love emblems. They're neat and are a fun little thing to work towards, and the allure of a cute little icon with some text can somehow up participation in certain events quite a bit. The only problem I have with them is that sometimes it can be rather subjective in how they're gotten, or someone can be overlooked.

Trying to get the Gender Bender Emblem was my whole life purpose and now that I have it I have no reason to live anymore now .

Speaking of which, there was a time when I would change my displayed gender quite frequently, and many people still are unsure of what gender I actually am sometimes, or just flat out get it wrong, but I guess I just haven't confused the right people yet to receive the emblem. I'm still workin' for it! But that's what I mean: you might meet the "requirements" of an emblem, but some people or the right people may not notice.

I also get sad when I miss out on certain emblems, but that's no big deal, lol.

oh I also hate when an emblem's image gets deleted and you have a "sorry, this image has been moved or deleted" forever stuck on your emblems page. :C

I think they are awesome. My favorite one of all is my #1 fan emblem. I'm very proud of this one because it fits me, especially with my obsession towards Jui of Gotcharocka. It does seem as if the staff doesn't pay much attention though. I mean, I'm not trying to say that's bad. It's not easy to have to keep track of what every single member does or whether they deserve an emblem for something they did. I don't have much opinion on them other than really liking them. I actually love getting them because it's so exciting and new for me. It makes me feel really happy that the staffers pay attention to me on here. XD

I really enjoy getting an emblem, because it's pretty much a sign of achievement on this forum even if some are there just for the lols. My fave of the ones I currently have is "Crazy, crazy member" because I am a naturally hilarious person myself.

When it comes to emblems, I find that I like them. One reason why I like them is because they remind me of merit badges that I have gotten back during my days as a member of the Boy Scouts.

i like them, but i wish they were more clear and easier to obtain. some of the things are really random and i feel like mods get them mostly.

The code literally didn't exist until last week. I wonder if maybe staffers were manually sending PMs. idk

I got these PMs every time I got an emblem:

If memory serves, it's the automated PM system that goes along with the Emblems system.

The PM system existed before, but it was hit or miss depending on who was awarding the emblem. For example, people have told me how my automated awarded emblem PMs never gave them notifications, but I know that other staff have had no issue when it comes to notifying recipients.
