You just gained +3 Charisma. My French sucks. I can't sweet-talk French babes in Quebec :( They dress so niiiiice :D

Dude don't even say that. I can't handle the temptati... I'M MOVING TO QUEBEC GOD DAMN IT.

I kinda know a liiiitle French. My cousins are French and I've visited them in Paris twice, picking up a little language along the way. Also, their English is terrible so I've had to utilize conversing in French as a primary means of communication.

Don't be fooled, however, because despite all this I am currently unable to put together a useful sentence. I usually get it all back when I see them though ;;

For fluency? ;P You can learn the basics of another language by putting that much time into it, sure, but you'll need a lot more than 5-10 minutes and generally some level of immersion before you can say you're fluent in a foreign language. :(

It's better than nothing, if you don't have time otherwise.

Oh, for sure. Anything is better than nothing and learning a language is quite possibly one of the most rewarding things you can do with your time. I was just arguing based on the original wish to be "fluent". :P

French is a veeeeeeeeeery difficult language to learn, it's less about learning and understanding rules than just learning loads of things off. The problem is that every rule has an exception, and there's an exception to every exception (and an exception to that exception). You end up spending more time learning the exceptions than you do the actual rules. Really even a long period of immersion will never let you match native speakers. There's also the fact that so many things sound far too similar to be comfortable with (even today I got mixed up with 'je veux' and 'j'ai vu' - it doesn't help that the French speak so fast!). That said, it's a beautiful language and well worth the difficulty in learning. I'll always have a place in my heart for the Romance Languages.

English is similarly ridiculous in a lot of ways, though native speakers never really realise that. American English largely fixes the pronunciation issues of British English but I'm something of a purist so it's illogical spellings for me!

I love romances languages too. There's something to them that anglo-saxon, or any other languages really, don't have. A sort of fluency. The way they, when written and spoken correctly, sound like one large word instead of hundreds or thousands of them.

I kinda feel lucky to be fluent in Spanish, especially in this town when the majority of the community speaks Spanish and not many know English. So like...whenever they need some kind of translator, I can have the capability to help out. :3

You could say I'm a little fluent in French.
I learnt it a while back properly, so I can easily speak it most times without hesitation. But I mostly use English, as where I live French is not used much. haha;

Je peux parler un peut francais! Mais pas beaucoup et j'ais oublié most of it xDD

More languages would be nice to know. I guess it's mostly a question of dedication and interest.

I fell out of love (no pun intended) with French, because I could never really get into learning it and there was no motivation from me to do so.

I took four semesters of French in HIGH SCHOOL AND COLLEGE and I'm not fluent at all.
Hahahhaa me too! Or even worse actually... I've studied french courses for 5 years and now forgotten most of it. I suck :D

I'm fluent in Spanish but I really lack my grammar. I don't know why I took a Spanish Literature course last year when I should've taken a grammar course.

Because literature is more fun than grammar? :)

Something else that is fun is kittens. Your signature gives me the feels. I just. Can't. Okay I have to google cats now. Why are cats so cute?
