The thing I want the most in life is successfully releasing a video game I've helped make.

I feel like my goal is small in comparison to some. I just want to get into professional voice acting. lol Just can't find a way in for now, since I'm stuck in Kansas.

I know a lot of people who want to become voice actors. It seems like it would be a pretty unique profession, all things considered

They say it's not about what you know, but who you know, so maybe try to befriend people who work in that area, or in related areas like acting or animation. Or heck, make your own little cheap cartoons and do your own voice work for them and put 'em on youtube.

Right, I've done some of that before. There are ways to get connections with most jobs / careers, really. xD

That is so true. I contacted some people whose research I was interested in some months ago to ask if I could do my master thesis work for them. And then one of them ended up being my lab supervisor this spring, and out of the blue (according to me) I then got an offer for a job in the summer from his colleague. And it might lead to a proper job after I've graduated if I play my cards right (and do my work properly lol). I didn't even have to go to an interview or present my CV because apparently my lab supervisor had talked about me so they believed I was good enough already. That just blew me away actually, that things can happen this way. Like, do I even deserve it xD

It's kinda crazy, right? I wouldn't have the job I have right now if someone I knew hadn't said "Hey, I heard there was this job opening. It's not official yet, but you should try for it." It's kinda nice, but also kind like you said where I feel like I maybe don't deserve it, or at least it makes me worry about what I'll do if I need to find another job.

with the way things are right now, I'd say it's best to count your blessings. My friend moved back home recently after being out of state for school, and hasn't been able to find work. it's been about 2 years, but no one is really hiring, & if they are, it's a runaround of being overqualified or something else. as a manager, I myself feel bad & hate hiring freezes

Wow, topic died fast... I also have no idea what we are talking about so...

Since a majority of PC is in school, what are your plans for the summer?

I'm trying to find a way to be productive over the Summer, so I'm thinking of making a Let's Play for Pokemon Y.

^same @ getting productive. Trying to get two more classes for summer. Also actively job searching in relation to my current major. And I'm exercising. \o/

My boyfriend tried P90X when he got home, so I'm going to try it in solidarity!

RIP in Peace Oryx

> find a way to be productive over the Summer

1) Try to keep doing my 'Japanese From Zero' lessons.

2) Try to find a freaking job. I can NOT find one anywhere... and the nearest available chance? Seventy miles away it seems, waste of time and gas really.

3) Ugh...trying to not fall back into depression. With such an.... (not going to say it here), but living with an a little [censor] in my home, called my kid brother.... ugh, he is horrible. Just cursing me out or telling me something terrible about Japan.

The only thing I'll really be doing much of is working...I want to get back into my pastel sketches, but people keep turning it down or saying it's a waste is a bit of a turn off

Ah, the joys of having a job. They said they're averaging around 20-25 hours for college students where I work.

In the meantime, i'm mostly doing challenges and maybe some breeding, and I NEED to get to playing Animal Crossing soon.

I have my job for over a month or 3 now and I like it :P

On the other hand I got the chance to play on a stream of a RTS game... I lost but IM FAMOUS NOW 8)
