This is a bit unrelated, but I think I will adopt children when the time comes. There are so many out there who are hurting and who deserve better lives, and as an actor I'll be in a position to spread my good fortune. It'd be lovely to have my own flesh and blood about the place, but I just can't handle the thought of babies - crying all day and night, fragile, demanding, and then they'll change into a screamy toddler and then a delicate child and then a rebellious teenager and OH GOD.

And suppose I get lumbered with the responsibility of raising it by myself?! I can't be a mother and a father to a flipping baby! I'll drop it, or squish it or starve it or overfeed it, and then it'll resent me and stick me in an old person's home the first chance it gets, the little git. And I'd want a boy. Girls are brilliant, but I'm not taking them dress-shopping and dealing with their tattooed boyfriends who I disapprove of to high heaven. And if I say no, there'll be more resentment and we'll all be miserable and die miserable.

This parenting business is awfully unpleasant. If I can skip a few tiers of hellishness, then that'd be wonderful. So adopting would be brilliant, and I'm not a creepo, so at least they'd be safe.

Finding a spouse might be a bit tricky, though.

I'd rather not have kids at all.

My own parents were in a fortunate enough position to be working decent enough jobs when raising my siblings and I, but to be truthful... kids are massively expensive. From birth all the way to adult independence is time and money you'll use to care for them, feed them, buy them clothes, etc etc.

I really don't have the mental and emotional energy for that kind of life. Huge props to those who want kids in the future though, even knowing the stress that comes along with it. It definitely pays off, but climbing the mountain of parenting is not something I personally see myself ever doing.

I can't really think of a trial more difficult than raising children. Other than being pregnant and giving birth to them, and I'm just baffled that anyone would go through that just to end up with a rotten kid. Oh mothers, you silly, silly things.

But children are excellent, so as soon as one hits teenage-hood I'm going to kick it out and replace it with someone younger - then I have an excuse to go on playgrounds and shop for toys. Maybe I'll keep one teen about the place... if only so I can hang around skate parks and be the groovy parent. And mortify them into pieces, of course. If I end up with boring adopted children, however, I'll sling them into the streets and start afresh. My tolerance for the generic is frightfully low. That's why I hate anime.

How does everyone else feel about generic things?

What about Venus fly traps? I'm sure that someone put their finger in one once. And flowers give people hay fever, and hay fever can blur the vision, and blurred vision can lead to stubbed toes... this is all very convoluted and extreme. How far does it go...?

Moral of the story: don't talk to people when you remember how awesome Sherlock was, or you'll see bits of text flying all over the places and peer a bit too deeply into simple matters. But by all accounts listen to Grouplove because it'll make you as fabulous as you feel.

That's not a good attitude to raise a child with. Children, especially adopted children, need a ton of love and patience regardless of how they behave. Adopted children often have their own emotional issues due to being moved around among a variety of caretakers and not having a long term parental figure or place to stay until they are adopted so getting a child that seems 'boring' is more likely than you think. You should also make sure they have a bright future ahead of them before sending them off. No parent worth the title wants a child to fail due to their own negligence.

Don't worry! I'm not going to adopt children and them chuck them out the door if they don't make me laugh. I'll still love them. I just won't necessarily like them. And the odds of dislike are just as great with one's own children, so no harm done. Besides, I doubt I could inflict many psychological problems on my children, adopted or not, unless I'm so wrapped up in my career that I have no time for them. In which case they can replace me with my manservant, Manfred, or my Bugatti mechanic, Raphael. I'm naming my staff in advance.

But who else wants to get married?

i had an ok weekend

Saturday was an absolute mess and I needed to recuperate from that terrible day today.

of course, it's back to work tomorrow.
 
Multiple things have gone wrong today and it's only 1pm haha. But nothing I can't fix so it's technically fine, just inconvenient. Also from todays messiness half of my weeks schedule has automatically opened up so I guess I'll use it as an opportunity to work on different things this week.
