Just got back from a vacation and now I'm back to my 9 and 10 hour shifts. I miss my vacation naps.

Wow, that sounds really sh*tty. Is it something that is beneficial to you in the long run?

I mean I'm a pharmacy technician so I supposed it's a "good, respectable" job. I don't intend on being a pharmacist but maybe I can take my knowledge and apply it to the fields I want to go into.

I know a few people who are pharmacy technicians.

1. What's a pharmacy technician?
2. How did you become one?
3. The people I know who are pharmacy technicians make a lot more than $11. I think they might be ripping you off!!

Hi! My mother is one, I can answer:
BASICALLY they do all the work like counting the pills and putting them together in bottles and preparing prescriptions.
College course
They do, I think you should be getting more, I'd seek new employment tbh

Don't be like my sister who became one. The first job she found is Walmart and they pay her like crap. I try to encourage her to find a better job at a hospital or at a prison center where they handle medications for prisoners (because they pay salary and not hourly) but she turned down the offers. Employers will hire you as long as you obtained the certifications and the proper training.

She gets paid on average $19 an hour, then again this is in California so I don't know if it's higher in other states or places. She's been working for about 10 years now.

My sister did her training in about a year, which is the average. Some colleges do have two year Associates programs, depends on where you are.

Sorry I know I'm late I went to bed and was gone all day.

A pharmacy technician is an employee in a pharmacy who orders the drugs, counts the drugs, takes the prescriptions in, writes them up, gives low-level advice on medications, deals with insurance companies, and dispenses medication to patients. Pharmacists typically do these plus verifying medications, managing pharmacy techs, and give more advice on medications than tech can/should.

I worked at Walgreens (US drug store for anyone not familiar (Shopper's Drug Mart or Boots (owned by the same company as Walgreens now too) would be similar stores in Canada and the UK)). I worked on the floor stocking shelves in the general store but they thought I'd be a good fit in the pharmacy.

I have the potential to make somewhere around $15/hr in a year or two but yeah it sucks. As for education required you only need a high school diploma (at least in the state of Ohio (none of my coworkers have a college education besides the pharmacists) but you have to take special classes and get certified by the state.

Yeah we have a really popular Children's Hospital around here (one of the best in the nation) I'm thinking about applying after some more years of employment as a pharmacy tech.

Yeah, you're more secure with salary tbh. I think the pay should be consistent with the cost of living where you are. California is expensive but I don't know the exact costs to know if that's a decent wage or not.

hi friendos

Naps are indeed godly.

EDIT:...... seriously, I don't understand how I still can end up on the wrong page when I click a thread. Laslow!!
