Chit-Chat: DCC: A new chapter

2025 has been a cruel year to me so far but it's only April.

I'm determined that 2025 will be a good year in the end and the start of better times <3
hoping that the rest of your year will be infinitely better 🫂

2025 has been wild for me, the year started the same as always, then a massive downfall, a lot of bad stuff happened at once, I thought it would be the end of me, and suddenly everything got back on track by itself and now it's all smooth sailing, as if all the bad stuff that happened was just to test my perseverance

2025 has been rather boring for the most part. Been working on trying to lose weight and get out and both walk more and do more and not be stuck inside all the time.

Yay for exercise!

I've had more of that since moving here too. Walking to work (~30 min each way, with one part involving a decently steep hill) helps - I was planning to only get the bus when the weather was bad... but it's hardly ever been bad enough to warrent it. Plus I've joined a karate club again after a few years off, so that's been good to resume.

I've been doing some Tai Chi for my exercise. I was told not to do some hardcore stuff like HIIT because of my stamina. So far, I've seen some progress. I even cut back on some sugar. Diet and exercise do work...you just need to find what works for you!

oh man i miss irc! i haven't logged onto an irc server in about 5 years now

i used to run my own small irc server with friends for about a decade and we had a blast. unfortunately getting older and also the political climate of the united states kinda tore us apart, but i'm still in touch with one of the people by text (and occasionally discord)

I also feel the user base has changed over the years. (with many of the main contributors of these types of threads moving onto discord permanently).

Personally I still enjoy these threads and find them beneficial. There's more room to think of a response unlike with Discord which is in constant movement. Many times I pop out of Discord and find the server has always moved on before I can properly think of what I wanted to say.

There's also room to weave in and out of a discussion without the social pressure. At least in the sense that I find the current state of this forum to be extremely relaxed. I'm not much of a regular at the moment yet I feel no stigma when jumping in and out of a thread. It's easy to simply exist.
