Did any of you have an allowance as a kid?

No, I'd just ask my grandparents when I wanted something and I'd usually get it. I was really spoiled.

Remember a few years ago when I made a joke saying that most of the people here have an allowance from their parents and use it on video games? Those were the days.

Nope. I never got an allowance. My father was too cheap to ever give us any money, so I never had an allowance. The most I'd ever get out of him was a dollar.

I think for maybe one or two years in middle school, I got a little money (like $10 or $15) for good grades whenever the end of the semester report cards came around. Of course that's when my grades started slipping too so that didn't last long lmao.

Other than that no allowance for me, other than the $1 my grandma used to give me whenever she saw me when I was really little.

Any birthday and Christmas money I got usually went straight into my savings account too, which I opened up when I was 13 so lol.

I still get allowance which confuses me but I don't ask questions

I get my allowance per week. It lasts for a week. Back in elementary, my allowance per week was 50 pesos.

I never had an allowance per say, but I got most of what I needed, which wasn't much so lol.

Not really. The only allowance I got while growing up was birthday/Christmas money. I would have to save all that money up to get what I wanted. There were times, though that I earned money for doing some major chores or helping people out, but other than that, that was it.

hahahahahahaha nope

Allowance? Nope. If I wanted something I had to tell the parents and they'd consider it but they wouldn't outright give me money unless it was for lunch/a snack at school and the like. So the whole concept of an allowance is odd to me since I'm so used to just asking for a gift as a reward rather than the money to actually buy said reward.

Spoiled spoiled spoiled. Kind of.

I had £10 a month in pocket money, which would have been £15, but as I got the Official Nintendo Magazine and Astonishing Spiderman comic every month, it was taken out of it. If I wanted anything as a kid, I had to either pray the car needed washing, or nag and nag and NAG until I got it. Neither option really worked, so I just made do with what I got. Better than nothing, after all~

Most folks who actually visit this section are closer to 27 than 17.

I remember receiving money for extra chores here and there, or for baby-sitting, but a steady allowance wasn't a thing for me. I can't say I've never gotten it, but I also can't re-call the last time I did.

Like others it was more-so I could ask for something and it'd be considered, or I would get money for special occasions like my birthday or for Christmas, but otherwise there was like a month or two where I received it in my lifetime, but nothing consistent. I was already spoiled, so I guess that's a good thing.

Nope. My parent's didn't have enough money to give me or any of my 2 older sisters allowances. :(
