I delivered packages to houses with a crazy older man and that has left me with many hilarious memories.

My first job was still in my field, but very low-paying and I was essentially working on my own. I had a supervisor, no co-workers. So, I learned a lot and having to be independent and thinking on my toes and such

In my time at private school, late in my upper school years I worked in an office as an unpaid job filing papers, and doing other typical office jobs. But it was mostly a job training program, although I was really liked by the people there. It's actually not far a walk at all from where I work presently, haha.

I'm at my second job, but being an intern means low pay. Probably gonna work out in the end though, I'm doing my required six months here on top of the 9 months I already worked, so I can approach my chef and ask him for a promotion or walk out. I mean, after the internship in cooking, you become a line cook, and that's the least he can do after 15 months of training. I hope.

I'm planning on working in Australia for a year, there's a lot of planning still left to do but I'm hoping to set off in July!

Moving on from this, has anyone had any "low-level" jobs that they learned a lot from that they can still attribute as being a good experience today?

I worked in a warehouse at my last job.

I first started loading trucks, then I moved onto picking. During my time there, I eventually learned to do everything on the warehouse side and could handle doing a few computer oriented tasks that the managers had to do, but that more-so had to do with my computer savviness.

Still, warehouse work is arguably one of the lowest jobs that people look at, even though it pays more than minimum wage (I started at 10.50, compared to my job that came next where I started at 8.25).

At first, I was above it. Warehouse work was "beneath me."

Then I started to develop an appreciation for it. It was hard work. I developed such a strong work ethic from working there, and the experience isn't something that I would trade up for anything. It wasn't something that I wanted to do my whole life, only to help pay for school and daily living expenses, but it was something that has really helped shaped me professionally. I don't think I would be the employee I am today - and in the future - if I didn't get my start there.

When I have children, I will want them to have a warehouse job at least once in their life.

Oh goodness, a closing Target? Let's hope that doesn't mean anything to come for the ones in PA... I think I read something in D&D about those closing in one other country but i've passed by a few stores in the mall that ended up closing (Sears being one of them).

My first job was a paid internship at a tax firm when I was 17 so I'm pretty lucky in that regard, though it was only twice a week. I miss it. Would totally go back as an employee if they were ever willing to have me.. but I've not been in contact with anyone at the office since. ;c

Oh wow that's really cool! I'm always happy to tell you about what things are like over here so you can learn what to expect because we're a bit more warmer than in the UK where you are, and I know for sure you will enjoy it.

I would love to work overseas aaaa. Anywhere that speaks English, though. I feel like I would be so lost otherwise, and I'm awful at picking up on new languages x_x

Though I'm sure it's easier when you're constantly around it.

I remember how this asshole wanted to help my mum find a job in Austria, but fucked it up when he found out that she was gonna earn more than him. Wasted 3 months of my life there.

That blows. Something similar happened to my boyfriend, except we moved across the country for a job that he was told he would have when we got here. Buuuut theeeeen an HR lady decided "no" and gave it to one of her personal friends.

We're doing perfectly fine regardless, though!

Sounds bad. Well, at least you're doing fine now. Meanwhile, I had to repeat 7th grade 'cause the school year wasn't over and then I moved back to Bulgaria. Such a waste of time. Worst 3 months of my life. However, I spit into his alcohol bottles before leaving. I watched him drink my saliva. It was priceless.

Aha, eww. Whatever makes you feel better I suppose.

Sadly, I don't think i've ever been outside of the US at all, so I really have no idea how working overseas would be. It's kinda pathetic. ):

Oh man I despise traveling. I've been to so many places ever since I was born that I just wanna stay put here in New York City. Haven't left the country since 2010 and haven't left the state since 2013.

I haven't left the country since 2011 or 2012 I don't remember when it was. I don't like traveling, but it's all fine once we get there. I go at least 2 states away about 5 or 6 times a year. It does get boring though, I've been to Florida enough times in my life that I could probably navigate it well enough to give directions to people and I'm starting to get to that point with South Carolina too.
